The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina, is hosting its first-ever Summer Honey Festival, three months of events, special F&B offerings and spa treatments celebrating the 100,000 honeybees that live on the hotel’s roof.
The hotel has operated two beehives since early 2010. Its first honey harvest of the summer is scheduled for June 20, when more than 30 lbs (14 kg) of natural honey will be reaped during an event covered online and on local television. Guests also will have a chance to take guided Saturday morning tours of the property’s rooftop beehives and herb garden throughout the summer.
Honey-focused dining offerings include fresh-baked honey bread during weekend brunch at the hotel’s Bar Cocoa, the Rooftop Honey Brandy Sour available at the Lobby Lounge and Urban Sip and handmade honey-pecan gelato sold at Bar Cocoa by the pint, cup or cone.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa & Wellness Center is using honey this summer as well, in treatments such as natural honey exfoliation and detox.
