In this week’s news, Mandarin Oriental names a new chief marketing officer; Detroit’s Shinola Hotel announced its leadership team; and Canyon Ranch makes executive appointments, including a vice president of health and healing.

The Shinola Hotel in Detroit named its leadership team in preparation for its December opening: Elliott Broom, previously vice president of museum operations at the Detroit Institute of Arts, joins as general manager. Sol Andrews, will become the hotel’s food & beverage director. Andrews previously worked at NoHo Hospitality, most recently as director of F&B at the William Vale in Brooklyn.
Tschuggen Hotel Group’s Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, Switzerland, named Graziano Caccioppoli executive chef of the hotel’s Romanoff restaurant and Carlton Bar and Lobby.
Nikki Carlson has been named general manager of the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel in Sacramento, California. Most recently, she was GM of Hotel Zoe, Fisherman’s Wharf.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group named Jill Kluge chief marketing officer. Currently she is the company’s group director of brand communications; she takes up her new role on December 31.
Christopher Castle was named director of food & beverage at The Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Most recently, Castle was director of restaurants at the
Williamsburg Inn.
The Adolphus, Dallas, named Anthony Dispensa executive chef of The French Room. Most recently, Dispensa worked at Dinner in the Mandarin Oriental, London.
Coast International Inn in Anchorage, Alaska, appointed Micheal Dorris director of sales and marketing. Most recently, he was sales and marketing manager at Alex Hotel & Suites.
The JW Marriott Chicago named Lori Freeland sous chef. She formerly was sous chef of Sheraton Overland Park Hotel & Convention Center in Kansas.
The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina, made two appointments: Richard J. Gras Jr. is executive chef of the Sammons Wing, and Brandon Gibson is chef de cuisine of Vue 1913. Gras joined the resort from the Ritz-Carlton Charlotte, where he was executive chef. Gibson most recently was head chef at Firekeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Montage Palmetto Bluff, in Bluffton, South Carolina, appointed Brent Greshamdirector of operations. Most recently, he worked at Charlestowne Hotels as corporate area manager.
Brush Creek Ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming, named Kim Hoffman director of sales and marketing. Previously she was director of marketing at Madeline Hotel & Residences, an Auberge Resort Collection property in Telluride, Colorado.
Hotel Indigo Lower East Side, New York City, appointed Jeremy Keller director of sales and marketing. Most recently, he worked at the Hotel on Rivington.
Canyon Ranch, Fort Worth, Texas, made several new executive hires: Kerry Kennedy is vice president of digital and innovation; his experience includes Southwest Airlines, Omni Hotels, Wyndham Hotels and Hilton Hotels. Doris Lopez is vice president of health and healing, a new role. Previously, she was vice president of ambulatory services and faculty practices at Brooklyn Hospital. Lisa Fisher is director of sales, marketing and communications, Tucson. Most recently she was transition director of sales at HEI. Dan Hardy is executive chef, Lenox. He previously was executive chef at Clark’s Café 7.
The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, in Dana Point, California, named Andrew Litherland executive chef. Most recently, he was executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds, Lake Oconee.
McKibbon Hospitality’s Hotel Arras in Asheville, North Carolina, which will open in early 2019, named its leadership team: David McCartney will serve as general manager, and Marie Dalis-Brown will be market director of sales. McCartney joined McKibbon as GM of Aloft Asheville Downtown. Dalis-Brown has handled the overall sales strategies for McKibbon’s AC Hotel Asheville Downtown and Aloft Asheville Downtown.
The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Vietnam named James Morrison resort zoologist. Most recently he was head keeper, Pu Mat National Park, for Save Vietnam’s Wildlife.
Laetitia Pardo joined the Hôtel Martinez, Cannes, France, as sales and marketing director. Most recently, she handled sales for the The Romanos in Costa Navarino, Greece.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas, promoted Braedan Quigley to director of sales and marketing. Most recently, Quigley was area director of sales and marketing for Hyatt Caribbean Resorts, which also includes properties in Aruba and Key West.
Jenna Reader was named manager of SpaTerre at Kona Kai Resort & Spa in San Diego, California. She joins from The Spa at Harrah’s Resort Southern California, where she oversaw daily spa operations.
Hilton Chicago appointed Lisa Selman director of beverage. She previously was director of
operations at Whiskey Thief Tavern and Pearl Brasserie, and is co-founder and director of operations for cocktail startup company Femme du Coupe.
Kimpton Monaco Salt Lake City, Utah, hired Ric Tanner as its new general manager. Most recently he was regional director of sales and marketing for Kimpton hotels in the Pacific Northwest, Mountain and Midwest regions.
Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort in St. Lucia, appointed Petra Trapp resort manager and Armin Asceric associate director of sales, marketing and public relations. Trapp joins from Laucala Island Resort in Fiji, where she was general manager. Asceric returns to Sugar Beach following six years at The Body Holiday where he headed marketing.
Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Fernandina Beach, Florida, promoted Daven Wardynski to director of food and beverage. Previously, he was executive chef at at the resort. Replacing him in that role is Todd Ruiz, who joins the resort from the Omni New Haven Hotel.
Janko Hospitality Group appointed Dana Solomon director of sales and marketing at The Rose Hotel Chicago/O’Hare, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, in Rosemont, Illinois. The hotel is opening in November. Most recently, Solomon was director of sales at the Embassy Suites Naperville.
Justin Wermers has been appointed area director of food & beverage at Banyan Tree & Angsana Lang Cô in Vietnam. Previously, he was director of F&B at New World Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong appointed Matthew Woolford executive chef. He previously was director of culinary at W Shanghai – The Bund.
Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pennsylvania, appointed David Yeo executive chef. He joins from The Mandarin Group in Seattle, where he served as principal consultant.
