People on the move: Langham | JW Marriott Hong Kong

A newly opened eco-resort in Indonesia’s Anambas Islands has named a general manager and Hostmark Hospitality Group appointed a chief operating officer, formerly an executive at Kimpton Hotels & Resorts. Read on for more of this week’s moves and promotions.

Jennifer Adams is now marketing manager at Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa & Convention Center in Branson, Missouri. Prior to joining the property, Adams was a graphic designer and photographer with her own Adams Creek Photography & Design Studio. 

Steven Adyani was named general manager of The Guild, a luxury boutique hotel from Oram Hotels opening in downtown San Diego this spring. Adyani previously was general manager at Wynn and Encore, Las Vegas. He also formerly served as vice president of U.S. operations for Gordon Ramsay Restaurants. 

The Walt Disney World Sawn and Dolphin Resort named Robert Allen hotel manager, overseeing operations of the 2,270-room property in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Allen, who has more than 40 years of hospitality experience, most recently was general manager of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel in Philadelphia. 

Timber Cove Resort, a boutique property in Jenner, California, appointed Ronald Andrade executive chef and Harry Bryan food and beverage director. Andrade most recently worked at Halifax in the W Hoboken, Hoboken, New Jersey. Bryan joins the property from Valette in Healdsburg, California, where he was assistant general manager. 

OTO Development, part of The Johnson Group, appointed Denise Beers-Kiepper vice president of human resources. Beers-Kiepper joins from MadDog Technology, a start-up focused on cloud-based platforms designed to improve business revenue. 

Hilton Cleveland Downtown appointed David Benefiel director of food and beverage, overseeing the hotel’s five dining operations and its meeting space. Benefiel joins the Cleveland property from Hilton Washington, D.C., where he was director of food and beverage. 

Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk in Honolulu, managed by Outrigger Hospitality Group, named Natalie Caceres sales director. Caceres joined Outrigger in 2006 as a guest services representative and was promoted to guest services manager, sales manager and finally director of sales at the Holiday Inn Resort Waikiki Beachcomber in Honolulu, recently rebranded as Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger. 

Thompson Zihuatanejo in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, named Carlos Carreon general manager, Jerri Lyn Walker director of sales and marketing, and Miguel Baltazar executive chef. Carreon comes to the property after three years as hotel manager of sister property Thompson Playa del Carmen in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Walker had been at Villa del Sol Resort Zihuatanejo and was invited to continue her leadership at the property as it transitioned into a Thompson hotel. Baltazar has worked in the kitchens at many luxury resorts, including Capella Hotel Group’s Ixtapa Resort in Ixtapa, Mexico, and Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. 

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino in Palm Beach, Aruba, appointed Gabriel Castrillon general manager. Castrillon began his career with Hyatt in 1984 and has held many leadership roles at Hyatt Regency properties across the U.S., most recently serving as general manager at Hyatt Regency Miami. 

Benchmark named Joseph Cavet director of food and beverage for The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark in Monticello, New York. Cavet had been multi-unit general manager for OTG Management, where he led multiple food and beverage restaurant teams at both Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, and LaGuardia Airport in New York City. 

Outrigger Hospitality Group named Julia Davidson vice president, brand strategic planning and development. Davidson most recently was the director of marketing for IHG Army Hotels, managing multi-channel marketing initiatives. 

AHC+Hospitality appointed Lindsay Jarvis general manager of the Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown, opening this summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jarvis began her career with AHC+Hospitality in 2008 as a front desk agent at the Amway Grand Plaza, also in Grand Rapids. Since then, she has held front-of-house manager and director-level roles. 

Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach in Phuket, Thailand, appointed Gerd Kotlorz general manager. Kotlorz has been with Marriott International since 2013, most recently serving as area director of sales and distribution for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.

The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Denver named David Larson complex director of food and beverage, responsible for food and beverage operations for the landmark hotel and the adjacent Holiday Inn Express Denver Downtown. Larson formerly was director of operations at The Inverness Hotel & Conference Center in Englewood, Colorado. 

Dream Hotel Group appointed Norbert Mede general manager of Heritage House Resort & Spa in Little River, California. Mede had been senior vice president of Pivot Agency, a sports marketing and travel company, where he led the travel division serving professional sports teams and their travel programs. 

NoHo Hospitality Group named Mary-Catherine Moore as director of events and catering at the Shinola Hotel, which recently opened in Detroit. Over the past five years, Moore has held various positions with the company, most recently serving as assistant director of events at The William Vale in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in New York City. 

Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company promoted Hai Nguyen to regional vice president of sales and marketing, responsible for hotels in the Northeast Ohio and Michigan territories. Nguyen joined the company in 2010 as a sales coordinator before moving on to director of sales and marketing. 

Expotel Hospitality has hired Mike Nixon as president and chief development officer. Nixon most recently was with Innisfree Hotels in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where he worked his way from general manager to president during his 25-year tenure.

The Langham, Hong Kong, named Cesare Romani culinary director. Prior to this role, Romani was director of culinary at Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for the Africa, Middle East and Europe regions.  

Silvio Rosenberger is now general manager of JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. The German native has extensive experience with Marriott International, most recently serving as general manager at JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Tomorrow Square in Shanghai, China. He also was area general manager.

Bawah Reserve, a group of six private islands in Indonesia’s Anambas Archipelago, appointed Raymond Saja general manager. Saja has led projects for Leading Hotels of the World properties, including the Hotel Plaza Athénée, New York City, and Karma Kandara in Bali, Indonesia. 

Fathom Companies named Marieke Thormann project director for the real estate and development division of the Portland, Maine-based company. Thormann has more than a decade of experience with high-profile development projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, ranging from boutique hotels and schools to large-scale development projects, including the City Market at O Street in Washington, D.C. 

Montage Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California, appointed Michael Treanor executive chef. Treanor arrived at the property from The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia, where he was executive sous chef. 

Langham Hospitality Group’s Bob van den Oord, current managing director of The Langham, London, assumed an additional role as regional vice president, operations, Europe, Middle East and U.S. Van den Oord previously held a dual position of managing director at The Langham, Hong Kong, and vice president brands (global) for Langham Hospitality Group. 

Singita appointed Taryn van Heerden general manager, sales, taking over from Caroline Burke, who is now the company’s general manager, business development. Van Heerden most recently was chief marketing officer at Wonga Finance SA. 

Hostmark Hospitality Group named Ronald Vlasic chief operating officer. Vlasic most recently worked with Kimpton Hotels & Resorts where started as a general manager of the company’s then two largest assets before culminating his tenure as vice president of operations. 

Grand Resort Bad Ragaz in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, appointed Stephan Wagner director of spa and wellbeing. Before joining the Swiss property, Wagner managed the spa at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
