People on the move: Kempinski, Hyatt, Shinta Mani

Kempinski Hotels has appointed Andras Biro as the new general manager at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore. He will oversee the growth of the five-star property.

Biro was previously general manager of Kempinski Grand Hotel Gelendzhik in Russia. From 2016 to 2018, he was hotel manager at the 686-room Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai, China. He has also been acting general manager and executive assistant manager at Kempinski Hotel Chongqing.

“Andras is a multifaceted and accomplished hotelier in all aspects of hotel operations, as well as a specialist in performance marketing and strategic leadership,” says Bernold Schroeder, chief executive officer Kempinski Group and chairman of the management board Kempinski AG. “He brings to Singapore almost 20 years of hospitality management experience, with a strong background in luxury hotel management.”

Seaport Companies, Boston, Massachusetts, announced that Marianna Accomando has been appointed vice president and general manager of the Seaport Hotel in Boston’s Seaport District. Accomando was most recently assistant general manager for the company since 2010.

The Balfour Hotel, Miami, Florida, announced the appointment of Steven Acosta as executive chef. Prior to joining the Balfour team in 2021, Acosta established his own culinary consulting business in 2018.

Virtuoso, New York, NY, has named two new executives to its team: Melissa Araya, senior director, cruise and Michael Goldenberg, director, customer relationship management. Araya previously worked at Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Miami, Florida. Before joining Virtuoso, Goldenberg spent more than a decade with Cendyn, Boca Raton, Florida, in senior leadership roles in the U.S. and abroad.

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, Bangkok, Thailand, announced four executive appointments in its portfolio of properties in Asia, the Indian Ocean and Middle East. Erik Billgren is general manager at Anantara Mui Ne Resort in Vietnam. Prior to joining Anantara, Billgren worked as hotel manager, New World Hoiana Hotel & Residences, Hoi An. João Corte-Real joins the team in Sri Lanka as cluster general manager overseeing Anantara Kalutara Resort and its neighbouring and sister property Avani Kalutara Resort. Corte-Real was previously general manager at Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo Hotel, Brazil. Gauderic Harang re-joins as the new general manager of Anantara Anantara Sir Bani Yas Resorts in the United Arab Emirates. He moves from Six Senses Zighy Bay Oman where he was general manager. Mohammed Wazir has been appointed as general manager at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara. Wazir’s most recent position as general manager at Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara in Oman.

Omni Hotels & Resorts, Dallas, Texas, announced the leadership appointments of Spencer Cody to corporate director of club & golf operations, and Ellen McGinnis to corporate director of spa. Prior to joining Omni, Cody served as director of golf at PGA West Private, La Quinta, California, for over two years. Before joining Omni, McGinnis served as executive vice president of operations at Innovative Spa Management.

Resort at Squaw Creek, a Lake Tahoe resort based in California’s Olympic Valley, announced Molly Flora as spa director for The Spa at Resort at Squaw Creek. Flora joins the resort from Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley, California.

Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection, Napa Valley, has appointed Ed Gannon as general manager. Gannon joins Auberge from at both Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole, Teton Village, Wyoming, and Four Seasons Resort Nevis, St. Kitts and Nevis, where he was general manager.

Solveig Gevers has been appointed director of wellness at Bensley Collection Shinta Mani Wild in Cambodia. Previously, she was a massage, yoga and wellness practitioner and trainer at @Beyond on Mnemba Island in Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania in East Africa.

Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, Austin, Texas, announced the appointment of Kaitlyn Giguere as director of resort activities. Previously, Giguere worked as the member services director at Reeves County Recreation Center, Pecos, Texas.

Trilogy Spa Holdings, Phoenix, Arizona, has announced the promotions of John Grunbeck to president and Michelle Kinney to chief operating officer. Grunbeck was formerly senior vice president of sales and business & development at Trilogy. Kinney was previously senior vice president of operations at Trilogy.

The Boca Raton, Florida, announced the appointment of five new general managers who will oversee five distinct hotels. Brice Kemper will preside over the Tower. Corinne Heyl will captain the Yacht Club. Anthony Rico will lead the Beach Club. James Carmody will manage the Cloister, and the Bungalows. Antonia Korosec will oversee resort operations across the expansive property. Kemper joins The Boca Raton from the island of Malta, where he was general manager of The Phoenicia Malta resort. Most recently, Heyl was general manager of Weekapaug Inn in Rhode Island. Rico joins The Boca Raton from SLS Baha Mar in the Bahamas. Carmody joins from the Boston Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center, where he was vice president and general manager of the hotel and conference center. Most recently, Korosec was general manager of Ocean House, a Forbes triple Five-Star, Relais & Châteaux property in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.

REVÄŞVĹŚ Wellness Resorts, Indonesia, has appointed Kimberly Rose Kneier as its new Wellness Director. She previously worked in the online arena, where she did coaching via her own programme.

Dalata announced the appointment of Conal O’Neill as chief operations officer. O’Neill joined the Group in 2014 as group operations manager before taking on the role of group general manager for Maldron Hotels in 2016.

Snow King Resort, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, has appointed Christopher Park as executive chef. Park was most recently executive chef for Grand Targhee Mountain Resort in Wyoming.

The Lake House on Canandaigua, Canandaigua, NY, announced the appointment of Chris Pulito as general manager. Pulito was most recently senior vice president of hospitality at del Lago Resort & Casino in Waterloo, NY.

Jonathan Raz has been named as hotel manager of Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, Orlando, Florida. Prior to this, he was complex director of food and beverage for both Waldorf Astoria Orlando and Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek.

Kimpton Marlowe Hotel, Cambridge, Massachusetts, announced that Adam Resnick has been appointed new executive chef. Most recently, he served as executive sous chef at Bambara restaurant in Cambridge.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, Lahaina, Hawaii, announced the appointment of Alexandra Santa as the director of group sales and Teresa Higa as the new associate director of leisure sales. Santa was previously associate director of sales at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa in California. Higa was previously director of group sales at Hyatt at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort in Hawaii.

David Steyn has been appointed general manager of the Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild in Cambodia’s South Cardamom National Park. Previously, he was the lodge manager at Aman Resorts’ Amankora Punakha Bhutan.

Utopia Corporation, Phuket, Thailand, has appointed three executives. Nalina Suranakarin has been appointed chief brand officer of Utopia Corporation and its subsidiaries. Ivo Tzvetkov is chief operating officer for Utopia Hospitality Group, a subsidiary company of UCORP, while Praisie Huang is UHG’s chief growth officer. Suranakarin has 10 years of experience in the luxury lifestyle sector. Tzvetkov previously worked at Marriott International, Bethesda, Maryland. Praisie previously worked at Marriott and France-based Accor.

The Harpeth Hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton property, Franklin, Tennessee, announced the appointments of Thomas Tuggle as executive chef and Richard Iannone as director of food and beverage. Tuggle joins from San Diego’s Park Hyatt Aviara where he was banquet chef and chef de cuisine. Iannone most recently served as the director of food & beverage at The Benjamin, a boutique hotel in Manhattan.

Sentral, Denver, Colorado, announced the appointments of new executive team members: Lisa Yeh as senior vice president, asset management and finance; Lisa Tully-Lavian as senior vice president, marketing; Matt Darling as vice president, technology and engineering; Michael Williams as vice president, development and Louise Parsons-Davey as vice president, revenue, distribution & sales. Prior to Sentral, Lisa oversaw operations, asset management, CSR, and procurement for Essex Property Trust, San Mateo, California. Tully-Lavian most recently served as the executive vice president of marketing at Highgate, Irving, Texas. Darling previously led technology at Madison-Reed, San Francisco, California. Prior to Sentral, Williams served as NY-based WeWork’s Head of Development, US/Canada West. Parsons-Davey most recently served as the vice president of revenue and distribution at Highgate, Irving.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Hong Kong, has announced the appointment of Torsten van Dullemen as general manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London and area vice president, operations overseeing the group’s hotels in Munich and Prague as well as forthcoming projects in Mayfair, London and Luzern. Van Dullemen was previously general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. and area vice president, operations for the Group’s Northeast US operations.

The Mandarin Oriental, Boston, Massachusetts, announced the appointment of Carol Vilardi to the position of director of catering. Vilardi joins Mandarin Oriental, Boston from the Newport Hotel Group, Middeltown, Rhode Island, where she served as regional director of sales for seven hotels.
