Palazzo Versace to enter China via Macau

SJM Holdings announced on Tuesday that it signed an agreement with the Versace fashion house to open a Palazzo Versace-branded hotel at a new casino-resort it is developing on Macau’s Cotai Strip.

The hotel will be the first in Asia Pacific for the 5-star brand from Gianni Versace S.p.A., Milan. The casino-resort is projected to open in 2015.

“The hotel and interior design business is very important to us as it is part of the brand’s history and we have invaluable know-how coming from major projects in Australia and Dubai among others. We are committed to further develop this business,” said Gian Giacomo Ferraris, Versace CEO.

SJM Holdings, Hong Kong, announced in October that it is building 2,000-room casino-resort on Macau’s Cotai Strip after securing a land lease from the Macau government. The project is SJM Holdings’ first casino-resort of this size.

“The combined expertise of Versace and SJM will create an unforgettable hospitality experience for Macau’s visitors which will enhance Macau’s role as a world-class leisure and tourism destination,” said Ambrose So, chairman of SJM’s board of directors.
