The Oberoi Group’s legendary Oberoi, New Delhi following an almost two-year, nearly US$100 million revamp which commenced shortly after the hotel celebrated its golden anniversary in 2016.

With design from New York-based Adam D. Tihany (who took inspiration from the modernism of English architect Edward Lutyens), the hotel’s design is brighter and updated, with an emphasis on natural light.
The property, which first opened in 1965, has lived up to its “legendary” status over the years, long being a haunt for both Indian and international influencers. The New York Times writes that the hotel’s nightclub Tabela used to be one of the most desirable after-dark spots in the country, so much so that it used to take 10 minutes to cross from one end of the room to another due to crowding.

The hotels has also partnered with two internationally acclaimed chefs. Chef Alfred Prasad, who held a Michelin star for thirteen years, oversees a new Indian restaurant, Omya and Chef Andrew Wong of the “A. Wong” Michelin star restaurant, designed the menu and is the mentor chef of the rooftop Chinese restaurant, Baoshuan.
The hotel has also downsized to 220 rooms from 283: meaning larger guest rooms and baths. The ballroom has also seen an update and the property has gained a new rooftop bar, Cirrus9.
