AC Hotels by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 brands, has announced the opening of its latest property in downtown St. Petersburg, Fla.
Officially opened on February 28, the eight-story AC Hotel by Marriott St. Petersburg Downtown features 172 rooms, including 12 suites. The hotel also provides 2,500 square feet of activated shared space, 1,800 square feet of event space, an outdoor pool and a fitness center.
The lobby includes the brand’s signature AC Kitchen and an AC Lounge. The rooftop houses Cane & Barrel, a Cuban-inspired restaurant and bar. The space also offers seating with an interior lounge on the terrace overlooking the waters of Tampa Bay.
“The overall design of this AC Hotel balances form and function, while small details provide an authentic sense of place. Whether you’re in town to work or play or a bit of both, we’re an easy walk to everywhere,” said general manager Ben Walters.
The hotel is owned and operated by OTO Development, which is part of The Johnson Group. Preston Reid mediated the agreement. With this acquisition, AC Hotel St. Petersburg Downtown becomes the seventh AC Hotel in OTO Development’s owned collection of properties.
Located in the waterfront arts district, the hotel is near over 100 local restaurants, recreation sites and cultural venues. The hotel is part of Ascent St. Petersburg, the mixed-use project Greystar Real Estate Partners and Concord Hospitality developed. The mixed-use development comprises a 36-story luxury apartment tower and 5,500 square feet of retail space.
The hotel was developed by Greystar and Concord Hospitality, with Greystar serving as general contractor and R2L: Architects serving as architect. DLR Group and lifestyle consulting firm Ellis Adams Group collaborated on Cane & Barrel’s concept and interior design.
AC Hotels’ portfolio presently includes more than 220 hotels across 31 countries.
