The laid-back atmosphere of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos sets the tone for the upcoming Nobu Residences, which General Manager Felix Schlokat Schlokat anticipates will open in two years with a design similar to the hotel.
Nobu has plans for residential elsewhere: According to Rachael Palumbo, Nobu Hospitality’s vice president sales and marketing, residences in Toronto will complete in 2021 and in São Paulo in 2022.
As well, the company is on track to have 20 hotels globally by 2020: The Barcelona property opened in September and hotels are underway in Chicago, London, Atlanta, Riyadh, São Paulo, Tel Aviv, Warsaw and Sydney.
“The restaurant-first approach, especially a restaurant with high global demand, is unique,” Palumbo said. “Investment by some Nobu owners in more than one property has contributed to our rapid expansion.”
The philosophy of “kokoro,” which comes from the Japanese word for “heart,” is what ties these destinations together, Schlokat said.
“Our standards are based on individuality, authenticity, respect, passion, kindness and collaboration,” he said. “Our ‘kokoro’ is our drive, our motivation and our determination. Service delivered from the heart will define future luxury hotels.”
