Carlson Rezidor expands in Dubai: Carlson Rezidor will open the Radisson Blu Residence Al Sufouh in Dubai in Q4 2017. The property will include 264 serviced apartments, an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby café and deli, meeting space and fitness center.

MGM Resorts to charge for parking: MGM Resorts International will become the first major casino company to start charging visitors this year for parking in Las Vegas. The hotel operator says it will charge up to US$10 for overnight self-parking with valet parking costing more.

International tourism continues growth: International tourist arrivals grew by 4.4% in 2015 to reach a total of 1.184 million in 2015, according to the latest United Nations World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Barometer. About 50 million more tourists traveled to international destinations around the world last yearcompared with 2014. 2015 is the sixth consecutive year of above-average growth, with international arrivals increasing by 4% or more every year since 2010.

 


HNA Tourism forms subsidiary: HNA Tourism Group formed a new wholly-owned subsidiary called E-Life Financial Services Holding Group. The group will serve as the financial and payment arm for HNA Tourism, aimed to provide an end-to-end service and payment system in the tourism industry. E-Life Financial also signed several strategic partnership agreements with MasterCard, NetEase, Inc., Tuniu Corp., Caissa Tourism, Aci Worldwide E Pte. Ltd., Beijing Capital Airlines and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay to undergo reno: Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort in the British Virgin Islands will begin a complete renovation on May 1, signifying the most substantial beautification project since it was founded 50 years ago. The refurbishment will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms and suites, its three restaurants and overall enhancements to the landscaping. Rosewood Little Dix Bay will close for about 18 months and reopen toward the end of 2017.
