News in brief: Absolute-Vienna hookup; Scandic goes big

Absolute, Vienna cooperate. Bangkok-based hospitality management company Absolute Hotel Services Group (AHS) has announced a new cooperation with Vienna House, Austria’s largest hotel group with 36 hotels there. The duo will expand their related brands in Europe and Asia.  AHS will expand its U Hotels and Resorts brand into the European market via AHS Europe office in Vienna, while also expanding the Vienna House brand in Asia under the auspices of Vienna House Asia office in Bangkok.

 


Scandic conquers Helsinki. Stockholm’s Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel company in the Nordic countries, has signed an agreement with property owner Exilion to operate a new hotel in the building that houses the Helsinki Central Railway Station. With close to 500 rooms, the hotel will be one of the largest in Scandic’s portfolio when it opens in 2020. The project is being developed in cooperation with the Finland’s National Board of Antiquities and the City of Helsinki to ensure that the new hotel fits into the surrounding city environment.

 


Dalata sells leasehold. Ireland’s Dalata Hotel Group has sold Kasterlee UK Limited, the company which holds the leasehold interest in the Croydon Park Hotel. The Hotel made a small loss of £20,000 in the six months to end of June 2017.
