Niman Ranch, Peapod team up

Niman Ranch announced that its products are now available through online grocer Peapod in the Chicago area. The new partnership will be celebrated with a special limited time offer discounting $10 off $30 spent on the new Fat Tire BBQ Collection, combining Niman Ranch pork and beef with the New Belgium Brewing amber ale for beer brats, ribs and shredded pork and beef. Women’s group honors Sanderson Farms

Sanderson Farms Inc. was honored by the Women’s Forum of New York at its fifth Breakfast of Corporate Champions. The global leadership network hosts the biennial event to recognize companies that are actively advancing women on corporate boards. Sanderson Farms leads its Fortune 1000 peers by retaining 35% female board members, double the national average.


NPPC launches ‘Pork o’clock’ campaign

The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) has launched a new campaign, “It’s Pork O’ Clock Somewhere,” to highlight the importance and benefits of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement. The campaign focuses on pork and the many ways it’s enjoyed across North America.


Papa John’s shuffles executive deck

After two months at the helm, Papa John’s Chief Executive Rob Lynch announced several senior management appointments. Max Wetzel joins the pizza chain as chief commercial and marketing officer, in charge of marketing, menu strategy, product innovation, customer experience and project management. Wetzel is the former chief transformation officer at PPG Industries. Jim Norberg has been promoted to chief operating officer, North America, and Jack Swaysland was named chief operating officer, international. Chief Financial Officer Joe Smith will leave the company in 2020.


USMEF elects new officers

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has elected Cevin Jones, a cattle feeder from Eden, Idaho, as the organization’s chair, succeeding Iowa pork producer Conley Nelson. Other officers named at USMEF’s Strategic Planning Conference in Tucson, Ariz., were new chair-elect Pat Binger of Wichita, Kan., a vice president at Cargill Protein Group; new vice chair Mark Swanson, CEO of Birko Corporation; and secretary-treasurer Dean Meyer, director of the Iowa Corn Growers Association.


Hormel launches a new ham

Hormel Foods announced it has launched a new ham: the Hormel Cure 81 Vermont Maple Spiral Sliced Half Ham. The fully-cooked bone-in ham has maple flavoring baked into it and come with a glaze packet.


Applegate partners with Oath Pizza

Oath Pizza is rolling out menu changes to its 60 locations that will feature meat toppings exclusively from Applegate, Hormel Foods’ natural and organic meat brand. The chain will feature Applegate Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Roasted Chicken, Bacon, and Pulled Pork.
