Minor Hotels unifies brand identity, rebrands NH Hotel Group

NH Hotel Group, part of Thailand-based Minor Hotels, has unified its corporate identity and will now operate as Minor Hotels Europe & Americas. The decision to adopt the new name follows a vote by NH Hotel Group’s shareholders to change the group’s registered name at its annual general meeting held last week.

The new name will help NH Hotel Group strengthen its integration with Minor Hotels and create a single identity for stakeholders, the group said in a release. The rebrand will also benefit industry professionals, shareholders and customers by strengthening the company’s global commercial and operational structure.

The Minor Hotels Europe & Americas name is a milestone for Minor Hotels’ journey as a globally recognized company, said Dillip Rajakarier, group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels.

“Together, our Minor Hotels team’s shared passion and pursuit of excellence will be instrumental in unlocking new business opportunities to achieve our ambitious growth targets in the coming years.”

The global portfolio of eight brands by NH Hotel Group and Minor Hotels – Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, Avani Hotels & Resorts, Elewana Collection, NH Hotels & Resorts, NH Collection Hotels & Resorts, nhow Hotels & Resorts, Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites and Tivoli Hotels & Resorts – were unified in 2019 and have been launched in new markets worldwide.

Two of NH Hotel Group’s brands, NH and NH Collection, have been introduced in Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean, as a result of the partnership between Minor Hotels and NH Hotel Group, with several properties in the pipeline. The collaboration has helped Minor Hotels strengthen its position in the upscale and luxury segments across Europe and the Americas, with the openings of properties under Anantara, Tivoli and Avani brands.

At present, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas has more than 350 hotels in 30 countries across Europe and the Americas.

Minor Hotels Europe & Americas is planning to expand across all segments, with special focus on its upper-upscale and luxury brands. Minor Hotels is aiming to add 200 properties across the globe by 2026, of which 50 will be in Europe.

NH Hotel Group debuted in 1978 with the NH Ciudad de Pamplona Hotel in Spain. After establishing its presence across Spain, the group expanded across Europe and the Americas. Minor International (MINT), Minor Hotels’ parent company, acquired 94.1% of NH Hotel Group in 2018, competing against Hyatt Hotels (which had submitted a letter of interest regarding the “potential acquisition” of the hotel chain). Earlier in 2018, NH Hotels had declined the unsolicited merger offer by Spain-based Grupo Barceló.

As of 2023, MINT increased its stake to 95.9%.

In 1978, Minor Hotels opened its first hotel – Royal Garden Resort in Pattaya, Thailand. The company has since grown to a global company with more than 540 hotels offering 80,000 rooms across 56 countries and a collection of related businesses.
