Minor Hotel’s Avani brand looks to expand into new regions in Europe & Latin America

Looking to capture guests who prioritize service, style and value, Thailand-headquartered Minor Hotels has announced its expansion strategy in Europe of its brand Avani Hotels & Resorts. The lifestyle brand targets “millennial-minded travelers.”

In 2024, Avani will expand into new territories and open five properties in key European destinations: one in Spain, one in Germany, two in Italy and one in the Netherlands.

Alongside its expansion in Europe, Avani will also open properties in Central and South America, with hotels in Colombia and Mexico scheduled to join the brand.

Among the first few additions in Europe, Avani will open its inaugural property in Spain in June with the rebranded 101-key Avani Alonso Martinez Madrid Hotel.

Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan Hotel is scheduled to open in June.

In Italy, two hotels will be rebranded — the 65-key Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan Hotel in June and the 144-key Avani Rio Novo Venice Hotel this summer.

In Germany, Avani will debut with the rebranded 256-key Avani Frankfurt City Hotel.

Avani will enter the Netherlands with the opening of a 163-room hotel in Amsterdam next year. The rebranded Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam Hotel is slated to open in Q2 2024.

Avani is also gearing up to launch in Latin America, where two properties are being planned for later this year with two rebranded hotels. Regional operations will begin in one of Central America’s top tourist destinations, with the opening of the 140-room Avani Cancun Airport Hotel in Mexico in Q3, followed by the launch of the 66-room Avani Royal Zona T Bogota Hotel in Colombia in Q4.

The expansion of Avani’s footprint into Europe and Latin America demonstrates the brand’s diversification in the upscale sector., said Dillip Rajakarier, Minor Hotels CEO.

“Avani is now a well-established brand in Asia, Africa and the Middle East and known for its great value proposition, its design philosophy and unique service offering. The work of recent years has prepared us to commit strategically to the expansion of Avani’s footprint into new regions of operation and marks a significant milestone for Minor Hotels,” Rajakarier said.

Created for “millennial-minded travelers,” Avani also aims to attract leisure travelers and digital nomads. Featuring smart, flexible and social spaces, each Avani property has its own personality and offers AvaniFit (the wellness center), The Pantry (providing flexible dining solutions), Avani PopUp (an al fresco casual dining experience) and Avani Kids (children’s club).

Launched in 2011, Avani currently comprises 38 properties in 20 countries across Asia, the Indian Ocean, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and one hotel in Europe (Portugal).

Minor Hotels currently has more than 530 hotels in 56 countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Ocean.
