Michael Jackson’s father invests in 5-star Vietnam resort project

LONG AN, VIETNAM The patriarch of the legendary Jackson family of the music business is one of the primary investors in a 5-star resort hotel project in Vietnam’s southern province of Long An.

Joe Jackson, 82, father of Michael Jackson, was on hand this weekend for the groundbreaking of the luxury 1,000-key Happyland hotel, being developed by Khang Thong Group.

The project, considered the largest entertainment district in Southeast Asia, includes an adjacent amusement park and will cost about US$2 billion to build. It aims to attract 14 million visitors annually upon opening in 2014.

“I like discovering different cultures in the world. Tourism and environment are also my interests,” Jackson tells local website VietNamNet Bridge. “There are many favorable conditions for investing in Vietnam. I like this project the most because it is located in a beautiful cultural and natural space.”
