NEW YORK CITY The Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, one of New York City’s largest hotels, announces a US$150 million renovation project. Over the next few months, the landmark will undergo a floor-to-ceiling transformation, expanding the size of all 1,781 guestrooms and the club lounge.
The first phase of the project, scheduled for completion in May, will feature the complete redesign of 1,080 guestrooms. The rest of the guestrooms will be renovated between December and next April. Wilson Associates has been tapped to oversee the renovation.
“On the heels of our successful US$6 billion revitalization effort, we continue to improve the quality and consistency of the brand portfolio by renovating iconic landmark properties in key destinations around the world,” says Hoyt Harper, Sheraton’s global brand leader. “As the economy continues to rebound and travelers return to the road en masse, Sheraton will be ready with newly renovated flagship hotels and brand offerings.”
All rooms will be larger in size and will include rich color palates, graphic patterns and clean lines inspired by the Sheraton brand’s new design scheme. The result is a sophisticated, classic look with a modern touch and elegant feel. To maximize space without eliminating comfort, each guestroom will feature sleek, low credenzas, wall-mounted flat-panel televisions, power outlets at the base of all decorative lighting, minibars and coffee-makers built into the wall, and some guestrooms will have walk-in showers.
The 50-story hotel is owned by Host Hotels & Resorts Inc.
