IHG’s Kimpton to debut in Morocco

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to introduce the first Kimpton hotel in Morocco, expanding its luxury lifestyle presence in the country. Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, Kimpton Marrakech will be developed through a franchise agreement with Sirayane Hospitality, which has operated in Marrakech for more than two decades.

The signing represents IHG’s third hotel agreement in Morocco and marks the debut of the Kimpton brand in the market. Kimpton Marrakech will be a 67-key property located approximately seven kilometers from Marrakesh–Menara Airport and about a 20-minute drive south of the Medina and Hivernage district. The hotel will be positioned in an area that is developing as a leisure-focused enclave supported by golf courses and open landscapes with views of the Atlas Mountains.

Kimpton Marrakech is planned to include 67 guest rooms, a lobby lounge and all-day dining venues. The hotel will also feature a spa, a fitness center, swimming pools and a rooftop restaurant. According to the announcement, the property is intended to function as a social space for travelers and residents.

“We are delighted to partner with Sirayane Hospitality to introduce the Kimpton brand to Marrakech, Morocco, a destination celebrated for its cultural richness, design heritage, and growing luxury tourism sector. Sirayane Hospitality’s strong local expertise makes them the perfect partner for this milestone opening,” said Haitham Mattar, managing director, IHG Hotels & Resorts – India, Middle East & Africa. “Kimpton Marrakech will bring a bold, contemporary, and highly experiential luxury lifestyle offering to one of the world’s most inspiring cities. Kimpton Hotels worldwide are thoughtfully designed to inspire connection and creativity, and we’re excited to bring that same energy and spirit to Marrakech.”

“We are proud to partner with IHG to bring the first Kimpton hotel to Morocco. Marrakech is a global destination for luxury travel, and we look forward to developing a hotel that represents the avant-garde of luxury lifestyle hospitality in the city,” said Mehdi Bennani Smires, owner and CEO of Sirayane Hospitality.

Marrakech accounts for roughly 25 percent of Morocco’s tourism volume and continues to benefit from international demand and public investment in the sector. The city is known for its historic sites, traditional markets and its position as a gateway to the Atlas Mountains.

Kimpton was founded in 1981 and introduced the boutique hotel concept to the industry. Since then, the brand has established a presence across the Americas, Europe and Asia. The Marrakech signing reflects continued interest in boutique and experience-driven accommodations within the city.
