Hyatt signs 9 new hotels in India, country pipeline at 38

INDIA Hyatt Hotels Corp. has signed management agreements for nine new Hyatt-branded hotels across India, bringing the company’s development pipeline in the country to 38 properties.

The new agreements call for an upper-upscale Grand Hyatt in Noida; upscale Hyatt Regency hotels in Jaipur, Surat, Ghazibad, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Guwahati; and select-service Hyatt Place hotels in Devanhalli and Seepz.

Hyatt also announces that two properties already under development, the 329-key Hyatt Regency Chennai and the 314-key Grand Hyatt Goa, will open later this year.

“Establishing a strong presence in emerging markets is a key element in our strategy of becoming the most preferred hospitality brand,” says Steve Haggerty, Hyatt’s global head of real estate and development. “India is certainly a core focus, and we are extremely pleased to have established relationships with some of the best developers there to build new properties that represent our most desirable brands.”

Hyatt’s India pipeline now comprises 14 Hyatt Regencys, 14 Hyatt Places, five Grand Hyatts, four Park Hyatts and one Andaz. The company has six properties already open in India, including four under the Hyatt Regency flag and one each of Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt.
