Hot Openings: St. Louis revitalization inspires facelift

Previously the Renaissance St. Louis Grand, the newly renovated Marriott St. Louis Grand strives to layer the old and new of the Gateway to the West. The design team at Stonehill & Taylor carried the concept of the “revitalization” of St. Louis throughout the US$30 million renovation.

The renovation, which began in November 2014 and was completed in June, encompasses almost all areas of the hotel, including new lobby space, a new lounge area, technology upgrades, updated guestrooms and suites, an updated concierge lounge, additional meeting space and an upgraded fitness center.

Originally built in 1917 as the Statler Hotel, the Marriott St. Louis Grand aims to provide guests with “sophisticated comfort.”

“The transition to a Marriott hotel is a natural response to the type of traveler our hotel is accustomed to hosting,” says Nour Laasri, general manager of the Marriott St. Louis Grand.
