Hot Openings: New suites, restaurant at Versace Mansion

The Villa By Barton G. has opened at the Versace Mansion in Miami Beach. The project consists of a restaurant, which debuted this month, and a boutique hotel, which will open next month.

The Nakash family acquired the property last year for US$41.5 million and brought in Barton G. Weiss to manage the property.

Starting in March, guests will be able to book one of 10 suites in the property. The smallest suite occupies 434 sq ft (40 sq m) of space. The largest, the 1,428-sq-ft (133-sq-m) Venus Suite, offers two private balconies overlooking Ocean Drive and the mansion’s Thousand Mosaic swimming pool, which is lined in 24-karat gold.

The 1,174-sq-ft (109-sq-m) Villa Suite gives guests a chance to sleep in Versace’s former bedroom, with a double king bed, two balconies, seven custom closets and an oversized shower. Guests will have access to two private lounges, including the Moroccan Room, as well as the Mosaic Gardens and the pool. The property plans to launch in-room, poolside and rooftop spa services soon.

The newly opened restaurant, Il Sole, serves a menu with Mediterranean influences (on Rosenthal china designed by Gianni Versace) in a space that features pebble mosaic walls and a frescoed ceiling. Executive Chef Scott Linquist and Executive Pastry Chef Luis Vasquez lead the kitchen, which turns out dishes such as pistachio seared Hawaiian ahi and butter-poached Maine lobster.

The Villa by Barton G. is also available for events.
