Hot Openings: Kimpton wines up in Seattle

The Washington winery-inspired Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property Hotel Vintage Park has reopened as the Hotel Vintage, a Kimpton Hotel after a complete revamp.

Seattle-based Dawson Design Associates decided to saturate the 125-key hotel’s design in viniculture. Not only is each room named after one of Washington’s vintners, it’s the recurring motif of the whole aesthetic. The designers used the history of wine in Europe as a jumping-off point, then worked in the laid-back vibe of the Pacific Northwest to support their concept that wine is for everybody.

The tasting room-style lobby features a metal sculpture that looks like a grape arbor on the ceiling. In the guest rooms, rich shades of purple and burgundy are a more subtle nod to the hotel’s theme. Clean lines and contemporary furniture add a more urban note. Wine-inspired art helps drive the point home. The designers also sprinkled quotes about wine on the walls of the hotel for a touch of whimsy.
