The Commons Hotel in Minneapolis opened late last year, with a “geek chic” industrial academic vibe.
The 304-key property, which is part of the Noble House Hotels & Resorts collection, is located in Minneapolis’ University District.
The hotel has completed a renovation project and unveiled a signature gastropub called The Beacon Public House. The restaurant’s design uses contrasts inspired by both the University of Minnesota and the Twin Cities’ industrial past.
The “geek chic” theme is echoed in programs like mixology lessons, local brews served in beakers, a weekly Words with Friends wine hour and Sudoku sleep-ins. The hotel also employs a Book Butler to deliver reading material to guests.
Events also have a nerdy twist, with options that include Jenga and spelling bee breaks, Smarties and Smart Water on meeting tables, and a Mad Scientist break that encourages attendees to experiment with treats.
The front drive features a firepit. In the lobby, guests can sip apple cider by a fireplace or read in the library lounge. The hotel also offers a fitness center.
