Hot Openings: Banyan Tree opens in northern China

Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside opened April 27. The property is Banyan Tree’s first luxury hotel in northern China and its tenth hotel in the country overall.

The 159 guestrooms have a décor inspired by traditional Chinese ink painting. In addition to a muted color palette, guestrooms offer large bathtubs. Most have windows overlooking the river.

Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside has five food and beverage outlets. The Grill serves meats and wine, and guests can choose from eight kinds of salt and pepper. River Café offers all-day dining and theme nights, while Bai Yun serves Cantonese and Tianjin-influenced dishes. The Jin Bar serves a variety of beverages in a relaxed setting, while the Lobby Lounge offers both drinks and dining in a casual ambiance. Both River Cafe and the Grill serve produce from Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside’s “Happy Farm,” which harvests chemical- and fertilizer-free fruits, vegetables and herbs from a plot in the Xiqing District four to six times a year.

The Banyan Tree Spa includes 10 treatment rooms with amenities that include rainmist facilities. In addition, the spa offers a beauty salon, relaxation area, gym, hot and warm dip pools and a swimming pool.
