Hot Openings: Aman opens on the Vietnamese coast

Amanresorts made its debut in Vietnam late last year with the opening of Amanoi.

The resort is located on the coastline within Nui Chua National Park, northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Central Pavilion overlooks the sea and the coastline; its design draws inspiration from a traditional Vietnamese communal hall. The hilltop building houses the restaurant, bar, library, boutique and a terrace. One of the resort’s pools is located next to the Central Pavilion.

The resort offers 31 pavilions, a number of which have private pools, and five Aman villas. The pavilions have a combined living and sleeping area as well as a timber sundeck with loungers. The accommodations blend contemporary and Vietnamese styles with views of the national park, the resort’s lake, Vinh Hy Bay and the East Sea.

Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects designed the resort to blend into the surrounding environment, with pitched roofs, slatted doors, exposed beams and furnishings in earthy tones.

The Aman villas comprise four or five free-standing bedroom pavilions, along with living and dining pavilions and a private swimming pool. Villas include the services of a live-in housekeeper and a cook who can prepare Vietnamese or Western fare in the villa’s kitchen.

The Aman Spa offers five double treatment rooms with double baths; treatments draw inspiration from herbs, rice and coffee. Fitness buffs can work out in the gym, a pilates studio or a lakeside yoga pavilion; the resort also has two outdoor tennis courts and trails for walking, running and trekking. The beach area offers water sports equipment and includes a pool that mirrors the shape of the shoreline.
