BUCHAREST, ROMANIA Hilton Worldwide has signed a franchise license agreement with VIS 7 Import Export SRL to open a Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Bucharest.
The conversion and upgrade of the Bucharest City Unirii Square Hotel to a Doubletree by Hilton hotel is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter. The 88-key Doubletree by Hilton, Bucharest-Unirii Square, will be Hilton Worldwide’s fifth hotel in Romania and the country’s second Doubletree, with Doubletree by Hilton, Oradea, due to open early next year.
“Our pace of growth in Romania is certainly gaining momentum, and we are delighted to be building our presence in Bucharest itself,” says Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for Europe and Africa. “Having opened Athenee Palace Bucharest in 1997, our first hotel in Romania, and adding Hilton Sibiu last year, the Doubletree by Hilton Bucharest-Unirii Square will now become our fifth hotel development secured in Romania.”
The upscale, full-service Doubletree brand has grown to 15 hotels in Europe since its debut in the region in 2008.
“This is our first franchise agreement with Hilton Worldwide, and we can proudly announce that we are signing a Doubletree by Hilton hotel,” says Saleem Sarieddine, executive manager of VIS 7 Import Export. “We believe that this new hotel is a great addition to Bucharest with great potential in a strategic city-center location.”
