MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN Developers of a proposed 200-key Marriott-branded hotel in downtown Milwaukee are attempting to persuade city officials to demolish five historically-designated buildings to make way for the 10-story hotel.
The hotel proposed by Jackson Street Management LLC would be located at Wisconsin Avenue and Milwaukee Street, across from the famed Pfister Hotel, and would include a restaurant facing downtown’s main thoroughfare.
Developers are in the process of lining up financing for the US$50 million project, BizTimes.com reports. However, the alderman that represents the district objects to the required demolition of five buildings that are more than 100 years old.
Downtown Milwaukee has a Courtyard by Marriott hotel and a Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, but does not have a full-service Marriott.
