Crowne Plaza Parramatta set to open in 2029

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced a partnership with Urban Property Group to bring Crowne Plaza Parramatta in Australia to the city’s growing central business district. The 217-room hotel is scheduled to open in 2029 within a mixed-use development located directly opposite Parramatta Train Station and connected to Westfield Parramatta.

The hotel will feature dining options including an all-day restaurant and a lobby bar. Meeting and event spaces will be flexible and a rooftop infinity pool with an outdoor terrace will be available for guests. The property is aimed at business travellers, event delegates and leisure visitors seeking to experience Parramatta.

“We’re delighted to partner with Urban and maximise this exceptional opportunity to bring our world-famous Crowne Plaza brand to Parramatta at a pivotal time in the city’s transformation,” said Matt Tripolone, managing director, Australasia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “Western Sydney is one of Australia’s most dynamic growth corridors, underpinned by record levels of infrastructure investment, a flourishing business and government sector, and the arrival of Western Sydney International Airport in 2026. Crowne Plaza Parramatta will be a flagship destination for both domestic and international travellers and an important and attractive addition to the city’s evolving skyline.”

“We are excited to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring Crowne Plaza Parramatta to life. This marks our first-ever hotel collaboration and will become a striking, defining feature within our mixed-use development when it opens in 2029,” said Patrick Elias, co-CEO of Urban. “Parramatta is set to play a key role in Sydney’s future as a major city centre, and we are proud to be creating a must-visit destination that combines quality hospitality and unrivalled connectivity for those who work here or visit from home or abroad.”

Parramatta has seen growth across commerce, education, health and the arts, with major cultural projects including the new Powerhouse Parramatta Museum and the expanded Riverside Theatre precinct. The opening of Western Sydney International Airport will further enhance accessibility.

Crowne Plaza Parramatta joins other Crowne Plaza hotels in Australia such as Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour, Crowne Plaza Melbourne and Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes. The brand currently has 14 open hotels and seven in the pipeline in Australia, and 415 open hotels with 144 in development worldwide.
