Courtyard goes full tilt with pinball promotion

Getting stuck at the airport may be a bit less boring this summer thanks to Courtyard by Marriott’s new Lobby Launch pinball games.

Installed at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport, Denver International Airport, Miami International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and San Francisco International Airport, the 7 ft (2.1 m), nine-screen pinball games feature the high points of Courtyard’s redesigned lobby concept, which debuted in 2008 and will be in place at 450 properties by the end of the year.

Courtyard declined to release the exact cost of installing each individual game, but said the cost for all five was less than US$1 million. The brand also is pleased with early numbers from the games: In the games’ first two weeks in airports, there were more than 13,000 game starts, and almost 50% of players completed games.

The top five pinball scores at each airport will be displayed on the board, and high scores will be posted on Courtyard’s Facebook page each week. Players also can take a photo with their high score and post it on Facebook. Photo used courtesy of Marriott International
