Choice’s Sleep Inn brand unveils interior details of new prototype

Choice Hotels International’s limited-service Sleep Inn brand has a new prototype called Scenic Dreams.

The prototype features redesigned rooms and common areas, complementing hotel exteriors and purple accent lighting, which were announced in April 2023.

The prototype has been developed in collaboration with developers, owners and operators. Consumer testing found that the new prototype increased guests’ chances of staying while being one of the lowest cost properties to build and operate in the midscale segment, Choice said in a statement.

The refreshed prototype adds wellness-focused elements catering to the evolving needs of travelers, said Jason Cowan, senior vice president, signature development, Choice Hotels.

Inspired by nature, the Scenic Dreams prototype will include murals of natural landscapes, cool color schemes and wood accents to complement the exteriors.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the interiors will maximize efficiency through its hotel layout and room designs, which will reduce wasted space and optimize operational processes. The prototype also includes energy-efficient LED lights, a linen and towel reuse program and low-flow faucets and shower heads.

Hotels feature water refill stations to reduce single-use plastics. Some properties will also provide EV charging stations.

Other additions and updates which optimize efficiency for owners and guest satisfaction include:

  • Lobbies featuring open floor plans, big windows, front desk wall with illuminated wood cutouts to reflect the night sky, updated signature murals. Developers can choose from eight mural options — coast, palms, pines, maples, field, forest, desert and mountains.
  • Modernized rooms with additional functional spaces, light dimming and smart thermostat options and regional artwork. Developers can choose from four color schemes — dusk, starry night, twilight, and dawn.
  • Improved breakfast areas which can be categorized into three areas — game room, television room and flexible workspace — as per guests’ needs.

Besides refreshed interiors and exterior design elements, Scenic Dreams also offers expanded wellness offerings, such as gyms, complimentary premium access to the BetteSleep app and dedicated outdoor areas to connect with nature.

Sleep Inn’s existing partnership with AllTrails, the digital guidebook for outdoor activities, provides guests with a QR code with several nearby hiking trails at participating hotels.

Franchised by Choice Hotels, Sleep Inn currently has over 500 properties open or in the pipeline globally. All Sleep Inn hotels offer complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi, a pool and/or fitness center.
