Briefs: Wyndham Grand debuts in Poland; IHG’s Hotel Indigo expands in Japan

WYNDHAM GRAND DEBUTS IN POLAND: Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened the 60-room Wyndham Grand Krakow Old Town, marking the debut of Wyndham Grand in Poland. The hotel will be operated by Poland-based Dobry Hotel Group. Located in Krakow Old Town, the hotel features two onsite restaurants, a heated indoor pool, a fitness center, a spa with a sauna, a hot tub, a salt cave and meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 150 people. The hotel is Wyndham’s eighth hotel in Poland. Wyndham has 9,100 hotels across over 95 countries.

HOTEL INDIGO OPENS FOURTH HOTEL IN JAPAN: Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury & lifestyle collection, has expanded its portfolio in Japan by opening its fourth property in the country. IHG has opened the 272-room Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya near the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo along with Pan Pacific International Holdings Corp. Drawing inspiration from its neighborhood and the urban jungle surrounding Shibuya, the hotel features fashion-led artworks throughout the 12th-floor reception area. The hotel offers a selection of vinyl records in every room, paying homage to Shibuya’s music culture. The hotel features a restaurant, café, heated indoor pool, spa, fitness center and meeting spaces. Hotel Indigo launched in Japan in 2020 and is expected to open a hotel in Nagasaki in 2024. The boutique lifestyle brand has 145 open and 128 pipeline properties globally.

TREEHOUSE HOTEL TO OPEN IN ADELAIDE: SH Hotels & Resorts will open its first Treehouse Hotel in Australia in Adelaide. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2026. Like all Treehouse Hotels, Treehouse Adelaide will showcase locally sourced original artworks and crafts, handmade details and seasonal and natural fare. The property will include 248 rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, a terrace bar with outdoor seating, a lobby lounge, a grab-and-go station, more than 230 square meters of fitness and wellness area and over 500 square meters of indoor and outdoor event area. The hotel will be managed by SH Hotels & Resorts, the sustainable brand management company founded by Starwood Capital Group Chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht. The property will be part of the Market Square office, retail, hospitality and residential project, a $400 million mixed-use development currently under construction. The first Treehouse Hotel opened in London in November 2019. More such properties are expected to open in Manchester, Sunnyvale, Brickell and Riyadh.

ZELDA DEAREST TO OPEN IN ASHEVILLE: Zelda Dearest, the boutique hotel brand named after novelist, painter and playwright Zelda Fitzgerald, will open in Asheville, N.C., on October 8. The 20-room hotel is set in three restored turn-of-the-century mansions in Asheville’s South Slope area. The hotel’s interiors have been designed by Nashville-headquartered Anderson Design Studio. The hotel includes a cocktail bar. The hotel is the second partnership between Lark Hotels, Hatteras Sky and its capital partner, Somera Capital East.
