Briefs: Volga Hotel opens in Mexico City; Four Seasons adds in China

VOLGA HOTEL OPENS IN MEXICO CITY: Mexico-based Hamak Hotels has announced the opening of Volga Hotel in Mexico City. Located in the Cuauhtemoc neighborhood, the hotel is close to the Roma and Condesa areas. Designed by Aisha Ballesteros, Benedikt Fahlbusch and Javier Sanchez of JSa Architecture, the hotel’s exterior sports a brutalist design leading to a modern, minimalist interior. The hotel has 50 rooms, which includes 14 suites and two grand suites. Volga includes a signature restaurant created by restaurateur Edo Kobayashi, poolside lounge with panoramic views of the city, music room, concept store curated by local tastemaker Sally Gallante, exhibition space and a meditative garden.

FOUR SEASONS ADDS IN CHINA: Four Seasons has partnered with Hong Kong-based Sun Hung Kai Properties to open Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou. The hotel marks the second collaboration between the two partners. Located in the Suzhou and Yangtzhe River Delta region, the new hotel is situated on a private 22-acre island in Jinji Lake. The hotel offers 119 rooms and suites and 11 independent villas with private courtyards. Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou includes a spa, customized wellness programs, an outdoor infinity pool and children’s pool, more than 1,000 square meters of banquet space and outdoor garden spaces. The hotel also features a signature Chinese restaurant, an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge and bar and a seasonal poolside grill and bar.

LUHRS BUILDING IN PHOENIX CONVERTS INTO MOXY HOTEL: The Moxy Phoenix Downtown is officially open. PEG Companies and A.G. Hill Partners acquired the historic Luhrs Building in 2019 and has renovated and converted it into the hotel. The building’s interiors have been refurbished, while the exterior façade has been preserved. The hotel is being managed by PEG Hospitality Group, PEG’s in-house hospitality management arm. The 164-room hotel includes a lobby, bar, game room, fitness center and a business center. The top floor of the building continues to function as a law office.

ALOFT HOTELS TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Aloft Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio, has announced the opening of Aloft Hotel Santo Domingo Piantini in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Located in the Piantini neighborhood of the city, the hotel features 192 rooms with the signature Loft-type design and 55-inch televisions. The rooms will have keyless entry systems. The hotel will also offer a lounge and bar. Currently, Aloft Hotels has 220 hotels across 32 countries.
