Name change for Stonewall Jackson: Fairfax, Virginia-based Crestline Hotels will change the name of one of its hotels after a group of U.S. citizens had lobbied for the change, deeming the hotel’s original name racist. A new name has not yet been decided for The Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Conference Center (named after a confederate general during the U.S. Civil War) in Staunton, Virginia. When the hotel was reopened in 2005 after refurbishment, there were discussions at the time of addressing the name of the hotel and conference center, but nothing came of them.
Valor acquires in the Rocky Mountain region: Valor Hospitality Partners will enter the Rocky Mountain region of the U.S. with the acquisition of seven new management agreements. The properties include: two Holiday Inns, two Holiday Inn Expresses, two Candlewood Suites and an independent boutique hotel, The Laszlo; all were formerly operated by MARS Hospitality.
