Briefs: Soho House ventures into Latin America; Dusit adds to Chinese portfolio

SOHO HOUSE VENTURES INTO LATIN AMERICA: Soho House has launched its first-ever property in Latin America with the opening of Soho House Mexico City. A former private residence has been restored and reimagined by Soho House Design to open as Soho House Mexico City. Located in Colonia Juárez in a historic building, the House has multiple bars, a library, a vinyl music room, an outside courtyard, a pool and pool house and four bedrooms. The F&B options have been created in partnership with three Michelin-starred Chef Christopher Kostow from Napa Valley, Calif. Grupo Hunan will be in charge of service operations in the House. The bedrooms can be booked exclusively by Soho House Members. A second phase of bedrooms is expected to open later in the future. The House features a collection of more than 150 works of art by artists born, trained or raised in Mexico.

DUSIT ADDS TO CHINESE PORTFOLIO: Thailand-based Dusit International, represented in China by Dusit Fudu Hotels and Resorts, has grown its presence in China with the opening of Dusit Thani Mogan Mountain Huzhou. This is the 11th luxury Dusit-branded hotel to open in China. Located at Ying Valley Resort in the east foothills of Mogan Mountain, the wellness-focused resort offers 22 deluxe rooms, along with three villas with views of Lion Lake and the adjacent tea plantations. Amenities at the resort include two restaurants, meetings and events spaces, a banquet hall and a camping site. The next phase of the hotel’s development will see the addition of 100 rooms and nine villas in stages. The resort will also see the opening of the Devarana Wellness Center, featuring a healing spa, hot water pools, a fitness center, an outdoor pool and dedicated spaces for meditation, yoga and sound healing.

U.S. PERFORMANCE UPDATE: Hotel performance in the U.S. improved from last week, according to CoStar’s data through September 23.

Occupancy remained down YOY due to the shift in the Rosh Hashanah calendar. Among the top 25 markets, Minneapolis posted the highest YOY occupancy increase (+7.4% to 71.3%). The United Nations General Assembly helped New York City post the highest increases in ADR (+16.5% to $488.89) and RevPAR (+17.6% to $444.47). San Francisco recorded the steepest RevPAR decline (-38.6% to $175.81) due to the Dreamforce calendar shift.

GROUNDBREAKING OF THE SOMM. IN WOODINVILLE, WASH.: Woodinville Hotel Partners, LLC has broken ground on The Somm. Hotel & Spa, a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel in Woodinville, Wash. The hotel is located in the Woodinville wine county and will offer 164 rooms and suites, a full-service restaurant and bar, a full-service spa with rooftop treatment rooms and hot tubs, a grand ballroom and multiple meeting rooms. Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality will manage the hotel. The architectural design was created by Jensen Design Architects, based in Redmond, Wash., and the interior design was led by Sixteen-Fifty Creative Intelligence, based in La Jolla, Calif. Woodinville-headquartered Sierra Construction Co. will develop the property.

PULLMAN SINGAPORE TO OPEN IN OCTOBER: Pullman Hotels & Resorts has announced that Pullman Singapore Hill Street will open on October 1. Developed and owned by Singapore-based EL Development Pte Ltd., the new luxury hotel will be the company’s first hotel development. The 350-room Pullman Singapore Hill Street, designed by Singapore-based DP Architects, has been envisioned as a hotel that translates the George Pullman sleeping car past to a modern context. Amenities at the hotel include an executive lounge, function rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, a gym and multiple dining venues. Currently, Pullman has more than 150 properties globally.
