Briefs: Sheraton’s milestone in Greater China; SH Hotels unveils Mexico hotel

SHERATON OPENS 100TH HOTEL IN GREATER CHINA: Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has achieved its milestone of opening its 100th property in Greater China, where the brand launched 50 years ago. The brand has opened Sheraton Lanzhou Anning in Lanzhou of Gansu province. Located in Lanzhou’s Anning District, the new hotel also marks Sheraton’s debut in Lanzhou. The hotel offers 354 rooms, multiple dining venues (with 24 private dining rooms), a Sheraton Club, an indoor heated pool, fitness center and 1,900 square meters of banquet and meeting space (including the 1,200-square-meter pillarless ballroom and five meeting rooms). The lobby features Sheraton’s signature Community Table, a common workspace, along with The Booths and The Studios. Currently, Sheraton’s global portfolio includes more than 425 hotels and resorts across 70 countries.

SH HOTELS ANNOUNCES MEXICO HOTEL: SH Hotels & Resorts, the sustainable hotel management company founded by Barry Sternlicht, has unveiled plans for 1 Hotel & Homes San Miguel de Allende. Slated to open in 2027, the hotel will be located in Mexico, close to the city center of San Miguel de Allende. The hotel will feature 97 guestrooms and 48 residences, with the bigger rooms having a terrace. The hotel will include culinary venues, a spa and dedicated outdoor event area. The residences will be situated adjacent to the hotel and will be branded 1 Homes, offering three- to five-bedroom units. Owners will be able to access a private entrance and exclusive amenities as well as services at the hotel.

BWH HOTELS RETURNS TO ARUBA: BWH Hotels has added Aruba Boutique & Art Hotel to its BW Signature Collection portfolio. This marks BWH’s return to the Aruba market. The hotel opened in Palm Beach, Aruba this April and includes an art gallery featuring several items from local photographer, Steve Francees. The hotel also offers an onsite restaurant, a cocktail lounge, an outdoor pool and a hot tub.

CHOICE HOTELS, GREEN KEY GLOBAL AGREEMENT: Green Key Global, the sustainable certification program for hotels in North America powered by the Hotel Association of Canada and the American Hotel and Lodging Association, has inked an agreement with Choice Hotels to offer its franchisees preferred services as properties seek its sustainability certification. This will allow Choice hotel owners in the U.S. to harness Green Key Global’s knowledge to optimize operations for sustainable practices and eventually secure the Green Key Eco-Rating and Green Key Meetings certifications. Green Key’s eco-certification aligns with all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
