ROSEWOOD OPENS FIRST GERMANY LOCATION: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has ventured into Germany with the opening of its inaugural property in the country, Rosewood Munich. Spanning two buildings, the hotel building is housed in the former Bavarian State Bank headquarters and the adjacent residential building Palais Neuhaus-Preysing. Situated close to Marienplatz, the central square in the city center, the hotel offers 73 rooms and 59 suites, including five exclusive houses. The hotel features a lobby lounge, a full-service brasserie, a bar, a 1,300-square-meter spa with six treatment rooms, a fitness center, an indoor pool and more than 600 square meters of indoor meeting space. The restoration and preservation of the buildings was led by Munich-based Hilmer Sattler Architekten Ahlers and London-based interior design firm Tara Berners & Partners. The interiors of the restaurant and bar have been designed by Munich-based DiPPOLD Interior Design Studio. Serving as an art gallery, the hotel showcases artworks by local artists.

MARRIOTT SIGNS THREE HOTELS IN VIETNAM: Marriott International, Inc. is expanding its presence in Vietnam and has signed agreements to open three new luxury resorts in the country. The agreements will see the launch of Marriott’s Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The Luxury Collection brands in Vietnam. Marriott will also open Vietnam’s third JW Marriott Hotel in Trang An, the UNESCO World Heritage destination. Scheduled to open in 2028, the JW Marriott is being developed by BITEXCO Group and will feature 150 rooms and suites along with 35 one- and two-bedroom villas. The hotel will include two dining venues, two pool zones, a spa with six treatment rooms and 850 square meters of event space. Owned by Sun Group, The Luxury Collection resort on Hon Thom Island will open in 2029 and offer 305 rooms and suites, two pool areas, a kid’s club, a spa with seven treatment rooms, six dining venues and 1,690 square meters of event space. Expected to open in 2028, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Hon Thom Island will be designed by Bill Bensley and feature 40 pool villas along with two resort pools, a spa, three restaurants, three bars and 300 square meters of event space. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve is also owned by Sun Group. At present, Marriott has nearly 20 properties in Vietnam under eight brands in 10 locations. These signings add to Marriott’s pipeline in Vietnam, which accounts for over 50 properties across the country.
U.S. PERFORMANCE IMPROVES: Hotel performance in the U.S. improved from last week while showing better YOY comparison, according to CoStar’s data through October 21.

Among the top 25 markets, Seattle recorded the highest YOY gains in occupancy (+8.5% to 76.1%). Las Vegas posted the highest increases in ADR (+20.3% to $257.42) and RevPAR (+23.5% to $229.57). Miami saw the steepest RevPAR decline (-12.3% to $133.01).
RENAISSANCE TO OPEN IN OAHU: Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa is set to open in early 2024. Located near the city’s epicenter, this will be the brand’s first property on the island of Oahu. The 39-story hotel will have 299 luxury rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The rooms will have fully equipped kitchenettes and deep-soak bathtubs. The hotel will include a private club lounge with ocean views, a signature restaurant, a spa on the eighth floor, an Olympic-sized lap pool, soaking tubs, salt saunas and a fitness center with a yoga studio.
RIU GROWS JAMAICA PORTFOLIO: Riu Hotels and Resorts will open a new all-inclusive resort near Montego Bay, Jamaica, in 2024. The Riu Palace Aquarelle will be located on White Bay Beach in Falmouth, which is part of the “greater Montego Bay.” The resort will offer 700 rooms, four swimming pools, a kid’s pool with waterslides and a water park. This will be Riu’s seventh property in Jamaica, joining other resorts in Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios.
