RIU GRAN CANARIA REOPENS: RIU Hotels & Resorts has announced the reopening of the Riu Gran Canaria. The 4-star, all-inclusive hotel in Maspalomas, Spain, underwent a complete refurbishment and has opened with new facilities, restaurants, bars and services, along with entertainment options — RIU Party. The 639-room Riu Gran Canaria has opened with renovated rooms and a modified façade to extend the rooms and offer more space. Common areas have been enhanced, and the lobby has been remodeled to create a bigger reception area. A new pool has been added, bringing the number to seven. The hotel’s main restaurant has undergone a complete refurbishment, with the addition of terraces in the garden.

NOBU OPENS FIFTH HOTEL IN SPAIN: Adding to its portfolio in Spain, Nobu Hospitality has opened its fifth hotel in the country — Nobu Hotel San Sebastián. Nobu has partnered with Spanish hospitality group Millennium Hospitality Real Estate SOCIMI to bring the Nobu cuisine to the city. The hotel is housed in the former Vista Eder Palace, a historic building on La Concha Bay designed by architect Francisco Urcola. The hotel consists of 17 rooms and suites, a Nobu restaurant, Nobu Terrace with sea views and a rooftop infinity pool. The hotel’s interiors have been designed by Tomas Alía from Studio Caramba.
CONSTRUCTION FINANCING CLOSES FOR ANDAZ TURKS & CAICOS: Concord Summit Capital, LLC and Vista Development Ltd. have sourced the last round of construction financing for the $165 million Andaz Hotel and Residences, which included a combination of senior loan and preferred equity. Concord’s Managing Director, Tyler Beauregard, worked on the financing on behalf of the borrowers. The project is being developed by Turks & Caicos-based Vista Development Ltd. The luxury condominium hotel will be on Grace Bay Beach in Turks & Caicos. The project, comprising two towers, is the first Andaz-branded resort and residential property in the Caribbean and will feature 59 hotel rooms and 73 branded residences across 5.5 acres.
PALISOCIETY TAMPA TO OPEN THIS FALL: Avi Brosh’s Palisociety has announced that its Palihouse Hyde Park Village in Tampa, Fla., is expected to open this fall. The hotel will mark the brand’s debut in Tampa. Located in the Hyde Park area, the 36-room hotel features a lobby lounge, cafe and bar with an all-day dining menu and kitchenettes on the second floor. The hotel is Palisociety’s 19th property.
BEST WESTERN ACADIA NOW OPEN: Best Western Hotels & Resorts has opened the Best Western Acadia Hotel in Crowley, La. The 49-room hotel is owned by Om Shanti Om Seven LLC. The hotel underwent renovations. All the rooms now have improved bathrooms, new carpets and bedding. Common areas have also been enhanced, with a new fully-renovated lobby, outdoor pool and business center. Best Western’s portfolio comprises 4,500 hotels under 19 brands across every chain scale segment in 100 countries.
