Briefs: Renaissance ventures into Hawaii; Six Senses resort on South Carolina Islands

RENAISSANCE DEBUTS IN HAWAII: Highgate has announced the opening of Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa in Honolulu, marking Renaissance’s first property in Hawaii. Located close to the Ala Moana Center and the island’s coastline, the 29-story hotel offers 187 rooms and suites, along with 112 residences with panoramic views of the ocean and mountain range. The hotel features a 6,700-square-foot restaurant, club lounge, fitness center, spa, sky deck, two hot tubs and a heated saltwater swimming pool and indoor and outdoor meeting spaces for up to 75 persons. Currently, Renaissance Hotels has more than 170 properties in around 40 countries.

SIX SENSES RESORT ON SOUTH CAROLINA ISLANDS: IHG Hotels & Resorts will open a Six Senses resort, spa and residential community along a stretch of the South Carolina shores, including Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie Island, and Bay Point Island. Slated to open in 2026, Six Senses South Carolina Islands will span several coastal locations and close to the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Six Senses recently signed the hotel management agreement for the property with Whitestone, along with partner Redrock Portfolio, Inc. The main welcome hub for the resort and residences will have a restaurant and retail outlet. Spread across 460 acres, the eco-conscious property will feature rooms and private suites, along with cottages along the beachfront and forest. The property will include branded guest residences, ranging from two- to five-bedrooms with access to the resort’s services and amenities, such as multiple dining options, water sports, a championship golf course and a spa.

SLH ADDS IN GREECE: Phāea, the women-led luxury Greek hospitality company, has announced that Phāea Blue Palace has joined the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). With a global collection of independent hotels, SLH has more 540 properties in over 90 countries. Slated to open in May, Phāea Blue Palace is a boutique hotel featuring 47 bungalows and suites. Located between Crete’s Elounda and the relics of Spinalonga Island, the hotel is being reimagined and revitalized to showcase a fusion of Greek heritage and sustainable luxury. 

TFE TO OPERATE VIBE HOTEL IN MELBOURNE: TFE Hotels will assume operations of the soon-to-be-rebranded Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands and Storehouse Docklands restaurant, with new owners MA Financial Group, from April 8. The 273-room Vibe Melbourne earlier operated as Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands Hotel. Earlier this month, Savills Hotels announced it brokered the sale of the luxury hotel in a A$96 million (U$62.82 million) off-market deal to MA Financial. Located close to the Marvel Stadium, the hotel offers views of the Yarra River, waterfront and the city and includes conference space and leisure facilities.

THE SUNSEEKER UP FOR SALE: The Sunseeker, a boutique hotel in Byron Bay in Australia, has been listed for sale. CBRE has been appointed to handle the sale of the hotel, which opened in 2021 following extensive renovations. The hotel has an additional 1,250 square meter vacant land parcel, which has an active development approval for additional accommodation. The hotel features 12 rooms, nine self-contained bungalows, a three-bedroom residence and an onsite caretaker studio apartment. Amenities include a swimming pool with a poolside bar and cabana, coffee cart, lobby library lounge, fire pit, kid’s play spaces, edible gardens and bee hives. Operated by the owner’s management team, the hotel is available for sale with vacant possession.
