PROCACCIANTI COMPANIES ACQUIRES NEWPORT BEACH HOTEL: Procaccianti Companies has acquired Newport Beach Hotel & Suites. The acquisition also includes an additional plot of land, enabling potential development opportunities in the future. The property will be managed by Procaccianti’s hospitality management affiliate, TPG Hotels & Resorts. Located on waterfront land in Newport, R.I., the historic property was built in 1940, and the suite property was built in 2008. The property features a rooftop deck, pool and a day spa. The property will undergo renovations to replace the soft goods in the rooms and other facilities enhancements. Currently, TPG’s historical resume is nearing 600 branded, independent boutique hotels and marinas, totaling over 65,000 rooms across 41 states.

BULGARI HOTEL IN ROME: Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has announced its ninth hotel, Bulgari Hotel Roma, will open in Rome on June 9. The hotel is located in the central Piazza Augusto Imperatore, which houses the historic mausoleum of Emperor Augustus and the Ara Pacis monument. The building was initially built between 1936 and 1938 and inaugurated in 1950 by the country’s Prime Minister Alcide de Gasperi. Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel of the Italian architecture and interior design firm ACPV Architects directed the architecture and interior design of the property. The hotel has 114 rooms, many of which are suites, and each has a view of the Piazza Augusto Imperatore or the Via della Frezza street. The hotel also features five signature dining venues curated by chef Niko Romito, a rooftop terrace, a reading room, a spa and a fitness center. Bulgari has luxury hotels in Milan, London, Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, Dubai and Bali, along with the newly opened hotel in Tokyo. More properties have been announced in the Maldives, Miami (both to open in 2025) and Los Angeles (2026).
VICEROY SANTA MONICA UNDERGOES $21M RENOVATIONS: Viceroy Santa Monica, the beachside hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., has completed extensive renovations worth $21 million by design studio EDG. Owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, the 169-room hotel initially opened in 2000 as the first Viceroy Hotels & Resorts property. The renovations include enhanced rooms and suites, newly designed common areas, expansive outdoor space and a signature restaurant and bar, Sugar Palm. A new art collection, which includes commissioned works and interactive augmented reality pieces from local artists, has also been added.
UNDER CANVAS OPENS FLAGSHIP RESORT IN UTAH: Under Canvas, the outdoor hospitality company, has opened ULUM, a new safari-inspired, luxury outdoor resort brand and opened its first property near Moab, Utah. Located close to the Looking Glass Arch, ULUM Moab is situated on 200 acres of desert landscape. The resort includes suite tents with king-sized beds, a lounge area, a private 70-square-foot deck, dipping pools, complimentary wellness and lifestyle activities and upscale dining venues. The property also offers chargers for electric vehicles and follows International Dark Sky principles to mitigate light pollution and maximize the night sky.
WALDORF ASTORIA TO LAUNCH IN INDIA: Hilton and Dangayach Group have signed a branding and management agreement to introduce Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand in India. The luxury brand will open a hotel in Jaipur, Rajasthan, overlooking the Aravalli Hills. Waldorf Astoria Jaipur will span 22 acres and will have 51 pool villas and 174 guest rooms; the hotel will also feature a spa, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and five dining venues, including the Peacock Alley, Waldorf Astoria’s signature lounge and bar concept. The hotel will include 2,400 square meters of meeting space and 3,000 square meters of open lawns, courtyards and gardens. This will bring Hilton’s brand portfolio in India to six. The Jaipur property will join Hilton’s current portfolio of 25 operating and 13 pipeline hotels in the country. Currently, Waldorf Astoria has a portfolio of more than 30 properties globally and 27 more in its pipeline.
