HOT SPRINGS RESORT TO OPEN IN CALIFORNIA: Murrieta Hot Springs Resort is set to open in Southern California in February 2024. Located on a historic 1902 site, the property had been closed to the public for the past 30 years. The team behind The Springs Resort in Pagosa Springs, CO, will reopen the newly reimagined wellness resort. Situated between Los Angeles and San Diego, the resort will be anchored in a 100% adaptive reuse renovation of the property and spans 46 acres. Led by lead architect Omgivning, the restoration will showcase the original architecture. Featuring 174 rooms, the resort will include more than 50 geothermal pools, water features and cold plunges. The resort will also offer a bathhouse, multiple dining venues, a fitness center and a range of wellness activities.
APPLE HOSPITALITY ACQUIRES RENTON RESIDENCE INN: Apple Hospitality REIT, Inc. has completed the acquisition of Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle South/Renton for $55.5 million (or $380,000 per key) from MCR. The deal closed on October 18. MCR acquired the 146-room hotel for $41.8 million in 2021. Following this acquisition, Apple Hospitality’s portfolio includes 223 hotels totaling 29,409 rooms across 37 states. The hotel first opened in 2019 and is close to The Boeing Company’s production facility in Renton, Wash. Apple Hospitality has three more hotels under contract for purchase — the 192-room Embassy Suites by Hilton South Jordan Salt Lake City for $36.8 million; a 260-key Embassy Suites by Hilton currently under development in downtown Madison, Wis. with a purchase price of $78.6 million; and a 256-room Motto by Hilton to be developed in Nashville for a purchase price of $96.7 million.
VENETIAN LAS VEGAS TO RENOVATE CONVENTION CENTER: The Venetian Resort Las Vegas has announced renovations worth $188 million of its convention center, which will be completed in phases between 2024 and 2026. The transformation, designed by Las Vegas-based design company Woogmaster Studio, is part of the resort’s extensive $1 billion capital investment project. New elements in the convention center will include luxury executive lounge spaces, updated technology and new aesthetics inspired by the future of meetings. When the renovations are completed, the hotel will have enhanced lounge-style spaces for all executives and a new speakeasy lounge.
ARLO HOTELS’ LATEST HOTEL IN WASHINGTON D.C.: Arlo Hotels, the independent lifestyle hotel brand, has announced the topping off of Arlo Washington D.C. When it opens in August 2024, the 12-story boutique hotel will be the brand’s seventh property to open in the U.S. The hotel will be designed by design firm Meyer Davis and boutique design firm //3877 Design. Owned by Quadrum Global, the hotel will cover a total space of 229,846 square feet, including the restoration and preservation of The Harrison Apartments, the original 42,9242-square-foot, five-story building and the city’s oldest surviving conventional traditional apartment building built in 1882. Arlo is adding 186,904 square feet to this structure, which will house the penthouse, four meeting rooms, a rooftop lounge and a pool. The hotel will also feature a café and lounge, a restaurant and bar and an interior courtyard.
