Briefs: Nobu to debut in Egypt; The Oread joins Hilton’s Tapestry Collection

NOBU’S LAUNCH IN EGYPT: SODIC, the Egyptian real estate developer, has partnered with Nobu Hospitality to announce plans to expand the Nobu brand in Egypt. Nobu’s launch in Egypt will anchor two of SODIC’s developments, Cairo in the New Zayed area and a coastal project on the North Coast, resulting in two multi-million-dollar luxury hotels, a Nobu restaurant and branded Nobu residences. The Nobu Hotel and Residences Cairo, located in SODIC’s development in New Zayed in West Cairo, will be part of The Estates Residences and provide direct access to the North Coast. Spread across 440 acres on a beachfront location, the Nobu Hotel and Residences in the North Coast development will be located in the Ras El Hikma area and offer views of the Mediterranean Sea. The property will operate seasonally from May till October.

THE OREAD JOINS HILTON’S TAPESTRY COLLECTION: The Oread Hotel in Lawrence, Kan., has joined the Tapestry Collection by the Hilton brand. In 2022, Mission Hill Hospitality acquired the 102-room hotel managed by Concord Hospitality. The hotel will be renamed as The Oread Hotel Lawrence, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Located adjacent to the University of Kansas, the hotel offers views of the campus and football stadium. The hotel features a combination of historic and modern architecture. The hotel includes 15,000 square feet of meeting space, a full-service three-meal restaurant, bar, two large outdoor terraces, a fitness center and retail space.

OXFORD CAPITAL REOPENS 4 SAN FRANCISCO HOTELS: Chicago-based Oxford Capital Group, LLC has reopened and four rebranded hotels in San Francisco — 107-key Hotel Julian San Francisco (formerly Hotel Vertigo and initially known as Empire Hotel); 152-key SoMa House (formerly Americania Hotel); 121-room Hotel Garrett (earlier known as Good Hotel) and 48-room Hotel Fiona (formerly Carriage Inn). Oxford Hotels & Resorts, LLC, Oxford Capital’s wholly-owned affiliate, will continue to manage the four hotels upon reopening. The hotels were among the first properties to be used by the city to provide quarantine facilities during the pandemic for almost three years. Oxford Capital began renovating the properties in late 2022. Later this year and early next year, the company will open more rooms (nine rooms at SoMa House and four rooms at Hotel Garrett) and several new dining options at the properties.

LIFE HOTEL NEW YORK REOPENS: Rebel Hotel Company has announced the reopening of the Life Hotel New York under their management. Located in NoMad, the hotel’s site was the former home of LIFE Magazine. The hotel had closed during the pandemic. The property offers 98 rooms and suites with a mid-century feel and LIFE Magazine photographs exhibited on the walls. With the addition of Life Hotel, Rebel Hotel has expanded its portfolio in major metro cities in the U.S. The independent hotel operator recently added The Meridian Hotel Miami Beach to its collection.

REMINGTON ASSUMES MANAGEMENT OF SENNA HOUSE: Remington Hospitality has assumed management of the Senna House Hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz. This is the company’s first hotel in Scottsdale and fourth in Arizona. This is also Remington’s second collaboration with hotel owner OpWest Partners. The hotel is the latest addition to the Curio Collection by the Hilton brand and is a high-end boutique lifestyle hotel in the city’s entertainment district. The hotel features 169 rooms, a swim club with views of Camelback Mountain, a rooftop pool, an outdoor bar and a restaurant. Currently, Remington’s portfolio includes 128 hotels under 24 brands across 27 states and Washington, D.C.
