MAYA HOTELS ACQUIRES 2 HAMPTON INN HOTELS: Charlotte, N.C.-based Maya Hotels has acquired two Hampton Inn-branded hotels in the Carolinas — the 100-room Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte-Arrowood Rd., N.C. and the 110-key Hampton Inn Columbia Northeast-Fort Jackson, S.C. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The two properties collectively add 210 rooms to Maya Hotels’ portfolio. Maya Hotels will renovate and manage the hotels. This marks the group’s second and third additions in six months. The company said the two hotels were acquired at a discount to replacement cost.
MARRIOTT’S SOLAZ RESORT REOPENS: Marriott’s The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 brands, has announced the reopening of Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos in Mexico. Spread over 34 acres, the beachfront property overlooks the Sea of Cortez. The property has been enhanced to add 21 new luxury suites and two new wellness suites. The new suites will bring the total number of rooms at the hotel to 145. Mako Beach has also been added to the property. The resort, which first opened in 2018, has seven dining venues, a spa, a gallery, a museum and over 20,000 square feet of event space, including a 3,400-square-foot ballroom and an 11,000-square-foot outdoor deck. The property also has 53,000 square meters of green space and green roofs in 36% of its rooms, allowing for lower energy consumption. The Luxury Collection has over 120 properties spread across 35 countries.
U.S. PERFORMANCE IMPROVES: Hotel performance in the U.S. improved from last week, according to STR’s data through February 25.

The weekly occupancy level was the highest since November 12, 2022. Among the top 25 markets, Orlando reported the highest occupancy increase over 2019 (+6.2% to 86.9%). Las Vegas saw the highest ADR (+49.5% to $186.96) and RevPAR (+51.8% to $148.61) increases from 2019. The steepest RevPAR declines from 2019 were seen in San Francisco (-43.5% to $105.65) and Minneapolis (-22.2% to $52.42).
HILTON UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON COMPLETES RENOVATION: Hilton University of Houston has completed its four-year, $30.4 million renovation project, which includes the new Hilton Tower. The hotel is located within the campus and supports the University of Houston Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership. The renovations saw enhanced meetings and events areas. The eight-story building is designed by Houston-based Kirksey Architecture and has added 70 new rooms. The renovations have doubled the hotel’s capacity and included a complete renovation of the property’s original 80 rooms, lobby, courtyard and public spaces.
ACCOR PACIFIC, ECOTOURISM AUSTRALIA ALIGN: Australia and Accor have formed a strategic partnership with Ecotourism Australia to certify all Accor properties in Australia and the Pacific as Sustainable Tourism-certified businesses. Launched in 2022, Ecotourism Australia’s Sustainable Tourism Certification has been recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. The Sustainable Tourism Certification is designed for tourism-related businesses and tourism operators to meet and get recognition for best practice sustainability practices and has been an extension to the present ECO Certification program in Australia for more than two decades. Accor currently has 19 brands in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia.
