Briefs: Marriott’s trio of resorts in Vietnam; Leela Hotels, Preferred strengthen partnership

MARRIOTT’S TRIO OF RESORTS IN VIETNAM: Marriott International has opened three premium branded hotels across Vietnam — Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa, Hon Tre Island; Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, Non Nuoc Beach Villas; and Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa. All three hotels are owned by Vietnam-based hospitality group Vinpearl. Featuring 403 rooms and 626 villas, Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa is Marriott’s largest hotel in the country. The resort offers four F&B options, seven pools, two tennis courts, a fitness center, a kid’s club and playground and meeting and event spaces. Danang Marriott Resort & Spa marks Marriott’s first oceanfront all-pool villa resort in the country. All villas have private plunge pools and sun decks. Other services include five dining and social venues, an outdoor pool, a spa, a fitness center, two tennis courts and a kid’s club. Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa is Marriott’s first Renaissance-branded beachfront property in Vietnam. The 218-key hotel has signature dining venues, a spa, a fitness center, a tennis court, an infinity pool, a 476-square-meter ballroom and outdoor event spaces for up to 650 persons. With these three resorts, Marriott now has 19 properties in Vietnam, with more hotels set to open in the future.

LEELA HOTELS, PREFERRED STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP: The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, the Mumbai-based luxury hotel brand, and independent hotel brand Preferred Hotels & Resorts have announced the 15th year of their partnership. The companies will expand their collaboration with the addition of The Leela Kovalam, A Raviz Hotel; The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel; and The Leela Gandhinagar to the Preferred portfolio. The two companies have further strengthened their partnership with two Leela marquee properties — The Leela Palace Udaipur and The Leela Palace Bengaluru — joining Beyond Green, Preferred’s global collection of sustainable hotels. About 90% of The Leela Palace Bengaluru is powered by wind energy, and The Leela Palace Udaipur recently received the SEEMS Platinum, National Energy Management Award and has a fleet of EV boats plying on Lake Pichola. Owned by Brookfield Asset Management, The Leela Palaces has a marketing alliance with Preferred and is a member of the Global Hotel Alliance.

WESTIN OPENS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.: Westin Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Westin Washington, DC Downtown. The hotel’s owners, Sunstone Hotel Investors, invested close to $80 million to offer a contemporary blend of wellness offerings along with updated rooms. Designed by architecture and design companies Parts and Labor Design and Leo A Daly, the hotel features 807 rooms, an open-kitchen concept with locally sourced menus, a 10,000-square-foot fitness center and meeting spaces and workstations. Currently, Westin has over 235 properties in more than 40 countries.

HYATT REGENCY ADDS IN CHINA: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has announced the opening of Hyatt Regency Changshu Kunsheng Lake, located on the eastern bank of Kuncheng Lake in China. One of the highest hotels in Changshu, the property offers panoramic views of the lake, city, mountain and sunset. Owned by fashion and textile company Bosideng, the hotel features 289 rooms and suites, four dining venues, a fitness center, an indoor pool and more than 25,994 square feet of meeting and event spaces.

MCINERNEY HOSPITALITY GROWS MANAGEMENT PORTFOLIO: Sunshine Hospitality and Management LLC has appointed McInerney Hospitality International Georgia to manage Courtyard by Marriott Batumi in Batumi, Georgia. Located on the coast of the Black Sea, the hotel offers 150 rooms and suites, an upscale full-service restaurant and lounge, six meeting rooms and an upscale spa and wellness facility with an indoor pool. McInerney Hospitality started working on several hotel development projects in Georgia and has since introduced multiple international hotel brands in the Black Sea region. This includes the Courtyard by Marriott Batumi and another Marriott under construction, a Hyatt Centric (under construction) in Batumi, a Hilton Garden Inn (under construction) in Kobuleti and a Wyndham Grand and Best Western in Tbilisi.
