Briefs: Loews hotel in Arlington, Texas; Singapore performance update

LOEWS OPENS ARLINGTON HOTEL AND CONVENTION CENTER: Loews Hotels & Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Loews Corp., has opened the Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center in Arlington, Texas. The hotel is Loews’ second and biggest hotel in Arlington. Located between Dallas and Fort Worth, the 21-story hotel features 888 rooms and luxury suites. The hotel includes 266,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting and convention space, five restaurants and lounges, a full-service spa and salon, resort-style beach club with two swimming pools, water slide and an artificial sandy beach. Loews Arlington Hotel is situated between two sports stadiums — Globe Life Field and the AT&T Stadium — as well as the new Arlington Convention Center (also operated by Loews Hotels) and the Live! By Loews Hotel. Guests staying at Live! By Loews Hotel can access Loews Arlington Hotel through a skybridge. Together, the two hotels offer 1,200 rooms and over 300,000 square feet of event space.

COLDPLAY PERFORMANCES DRIVE SINGAPORE PERFORMANCE: Hotels in Singapore reported a strong performance, boosted by Coldplay’s recent ‘World of the Spheres Tour,’ according to preliminary January data from CoStar.

  • Occupancy: 72.8% (+9.6%)
  • ADR: SG$334.46/US$248.1 (+3.3%)
  • RevPAR: SG$243.55/US$180.66 (+13.2%)

Occupancy levels touched higher levels by the end of January, driven by six Coldplay concerts which took place between January 23 and 31. Occupancy peaked at 93.1% on Thursday, January 26 and Friday, January 26. Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour (March 2-4 and 7-9) is expected to cause a similar surge in occupancy in the city state. According to forward STAR data, occupancy on the books is 72% on the opening night.

CRAWFORD HOYING, SHANER ACQUIRE IN HAMILTON: Crawford Hoying has partnered with hotel owner, operator and developer Shaner Hotel Group to acquire Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton in Hamilton, Ohio. This marks Shaner’s first property in Hamilton and the15th hotel in its portfolio. This also marks Crawford Hoying’s second hotel acquisition in the last five months. Located near the Marcum Park and several dining, entertainment and retail offerings, the hotel consists of 120 rooms, a fitness center, an indoor heated pool and over 5,800 square feet of event space. The hotel is also situated close to Crawford Hoying’s recently announced 17-acre mixed-use project at the existing Cohen Recycling site. The mixed-use development will include multifamily, retail and office space and another hotel with Shaner.

ESA BREAKS GROUND ON FIRST SELECT SUITES: Extended Stay America has begun construction of the first, new-build Extended Stay America Select Suites prototype in Wildwood, Fla. The franchised hotel is being developed by Southern Hospitality and is scheduled to open in early 2025. The four-story, 124-key Extended Stay America Select Suites prototype has been created to offer basic amenities and services for longer-staying, value-conscious guests. The prototype has a smaller footprint and occupies just over 50,000 square feet with apartment-like suites featuring full kitchens and onsite laundry. The property will have minimal public spaces to limit operational costs.
