Briefs: Hyatt’s first in Sweden | The NY firm that bought L’Ermitage

Hyatt’s first property in Sweden: A Hyatt affiliate entered into a franchise agreement with Stockholm-based First Hotel Reisen AB to open the first Hyatt property in Sweden. Hotell Reisen is undergoing renovations and will be available on Hyatt’s booking system on an unbranded basis as of December 1, with plans to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in early 2021. In the Nordics, the hotel will join the planned Grand Hansa Hotel in Helsinki, Finland as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt and Hyatt Centric Reykjavík in Reykjavik, Iceland. The three hotels represent Hyatt’s expansion plans for Northern Europe.

Viceroy L’Ermitage sells to New York firm: New York-based EOS Investors has emerged as the buyer of the famed Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills luxury hotel. News broke in July that the 116-room hotel had a US$100 million stalking horse bid but was headed to auction. The auction was later canceled, and the stalking horse bidder, now revealed to be EOS Investors, purchased the property.

New South Beach hotel: Singer-songwriter and producer Pharrell Williams and hospitality mogul David Grutman are partnering with a Florida developer on the Goodtime Hotel, a 266-room hotel in Miami set to open early next year. Dreamscape Companies is the lead developer of the seven-story building, which was designed by architect Morris Adjmi. The project has a roughly US$200 million price tag.

First Dusit Thani hotel in Kyoto: Bangkok-based Dusit International signed a hotel management agreement with Yasuda Real Estate Co., a community-focused property developer based in Tokyo, to operate the luxury Dusit Thani Kyoto — its first Dusit-branded hotel in Japan. The 150-room property will have a Thai-themed all-day dining restaurant, a Japanese specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar, function rooms, a health club and wellness facilities.

McKibbon adds three in Florida: Tampa, Florida-based McKibbon Hospitality will add three new South Walton, Florida, hotels to its management portfolio. Owned by Miramar Beach-based real estate development and investment company Howard Group, the three properties include Courtyard by Marriott Sandestin at Grand Boulevard, Residence Inn by Marriott Sandestin at Grand Boulevard, and the Hyatt Place Sandestin at Grand Boulevard. The hotels were previously self-managed by Howard Hospitality, the hotel management division of Howard Group.
