Briefs: Hyatt widens footprint in California; $153M financing for five-hotel portfolio

HYATT EXPANDS CALIFORNIA FOOTPRINT: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has expanded the presence of its Hyatt Centric brand in California and added the brand’s sixth hotel in California. The opening of Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica also marks the 101st Hyatt hotel in the state. The hotel earlier operated under the Le Méridien brand as Le Méridien Delfina Santa Monica. Located close to the Santa Monica Pier, Third Street Promenade and the Venice Beach Boardwalk, the hotel will undergo a $16 million refurbishment to add a modern touch to its 315 rooms, add a new three-meal restaurant and bar and revitalize around 15,000 square feet of meeting space. The lobby and guest arrival areas will also be refreshed. The full-service hotel features a gym, an outdoor pool and whirlpool. The phased renovations will begin this fall. The property will continue to be managed by Viceroy Hotel Group, an operating division of Highgate.

$153M FINANCING FOR FIVE-HOTEL PORTFOLIO: JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has secured $153 million in senior financing for five full-service hotels totaling 1,140 keys. The portfolio comprises the Embassy Suites San Rafael Marin County in San Rafael, Calif.; Embassy Suites Phoenix Downtown North in Phoenix, Ariz.; Embassy Suites Atlanta Perimeter Center in Atlanta; Marriott Atlanta Northeast Emory Area in Atlanta; and Highline Vail DoubleTree by Hilton in Vail, Colo. JLL represented the borrower to secure the three-year, floating-rate loan through a debt fund. The properties were acquired between 2016 and 2018 and underwent renovations between 2018 and 2020. The portfolio benefits from cross-country geographic diversification, mitigating the impact from material changes in cash flows from any single property, JLL said in a statement.

SAGE HOSPITALITY ADDS TO LIFESTYLE PORTFOLIO: Sage Hospitality Group, along with Tidal Real Estate Partners, have announced that The Ann Savannah will be joining Sage’s portfolio of lifestyle properties. Expected to complete its conversion and join the Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand by early 2025, The Ann Savannah features 157 premium, serviced apartments. Sage will oversee all operations for the hotel, including food and beverage offerings. Located on Ann Street in downtown Savannah, the hotel was formerly known as Ann Street Lofts, which was a heavy timber construction apartment building. Each apartment unit will have a private bedroom, separate pet-friendly living spaces, full kitchen and washer/dryer areas. The hotel will include a fitness center and outdoor space.

SANDOS CANCUN’S ADULTS-ONLY TRANSITION: Sandos Cancun will be converting into an adults-only destination from January 1, 2025. The resort will transition from its existing adult-oriented concept and offer refreshed entertainment offerings, such as themed parties, resident and guest DJs, an all-you-can-eat F&B program and daily events. Located on Mexico’s white sand beaches, the resort will offer three infinity-edge pools. Sandos Hotels & Resorts’ overall portfolio comprises 10 all-inclusive properties across Spain and Mexico.
