Hyatt partners with Amazon for Exhale wellness brand: Chicago-based Hyatt Hotels Corp.’s Exhale brand is partnering with Amazon Halo. Powered by a mobile app and accompanying wristband, the newly launched Amazon Halo service combines science-backed tools and Exhale’s streaming video platform, Exhale On Demand to give users and Exhale members greater access to fitness programs. Hyatt Hotels acquired Exhale, an 18-year-old branded concept that “addresses mind and body through spa and fitness,” in 2017.
IHG’s Voco brand comes to the U.S.: IHG’s Voco brand has planned its first U.S. locations in for New York City; St. Augustine, Florida; and Columbia, Missouri. Initially launched outside of the Americas in 2018 with the first hotel in Australia, the brand’s development pipeline of 28 new properties will take it into 19 countries over the next five years.
Huazhu Group reports Q2 financial results: As of Q2, Shanghai-based Huazhu Group Ltd. reported a total of 6,187 hotels or 599,235 hotel rooms in operation and 2,375 unopened hotels in the pipeline as of June 30. Net revenues decreased 31.7% year-over-year to RMB2.0 billion (US$277 million) for the second quarter, slightly better than revenue guidance previously announced of 32% to 34% decrease. Second-quarter net loss was RMB548 million (US$76 million).
Crestline managing two in Tempe, Arizona: Fairfax, Virginia-based Crestline Hotels & Resorts will manage the newly built dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels located on Arizona State University’s Tempe Campus. The recently opened hotels are the first dual-branded Hyatt hotels in the Tempe market. The Hyatt Place has 154 guest rooms that include a sleeper sofa. The Hyatt House has 105 studio and one-bedroom suites with a sleeper sofa in and a kitchenette in each suite.
