Briefs: Grand Hyatt expands in Europe; Radisson Collection adds in Italy

GRAND HYATT OPENS IN SPAIN: Hyatt’s Grand Hyatt brand has arrived in Spain with the opening of Grand Hyatt Barcelona. The property marks the fifth Grand Hyatt hotel to open in Europe. Located in the Alta Barcelona area and close to popular attractions, Grand Hyatt Barcelona features 465 rooms, including 49 signature suites and a penthouse. The hotel includes four dining venues, 22 meeting rooms totaling over 35,000 square feet and a spa with an 807-square-foot pool and waterfall, a hot tub, Turkish bath and sauna. The hotel also offers an outdoor pool with a terrace, sunbeds, pool bar and restaurant. Hyatt currently has 50 properties under eight brands in Spain. Globally, Hyatt’s portfolio includes more than 1,300 properties across 77 countries.

RADISSON COLLECTION GROWS ITALIAN PORTFOLIO: Radisson Collection has added to its Italian portfolio and opened its sixth hotel – Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica. Located in Rome’s city center, the hotel is built around the Palazzo Lares Permarini, a restored palazzo. Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica includes a 3D reconstruction of the Porticus Minucia, a fragment of the ancient perimeter wall of the Porticus Minucia from the imperial era which was discovered during the renovation of the palazzo to create the hotel. The hotel offers 84 rooms, with some rooms including terraces. The hotel includes a restaurant, a cocktail bar, fitness and wellness center.

RESIDENCES AT FRANCE’S LES BORDES ESTATES: Les Bordes Estate in France has opened its first residences – Cour du Baron. Located in Loire Valley, the residences at Cour du Baron have been designed by architect Michaelis Boyd. Situated nearly 90 minutes away from Paris Cour du Baron offers an initial collection of 21 homes, with plans to open 60 more in future phases. The residences include private pools, stone tiles and farmhouse-style timber beams. Residents can access a spa, sports facilities, tennis and paddle courts, a kids club and an electric go-kart track at the Les Bordes Estate. Cour du Baron residents can also apply to join the Les Bordes Golf Club, which features two championship courses and a par three course.

AHLA, HAC TO EXPAND GREEN KEY GLOBAL: The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) have announced that Green Key Global, the sustainability certification body for hotels, is now jointly operated by the associations in the U.S. and Canada. The partnership builds on AHLA’s Responsible Stay initiative, which underscores AHLA member companies’ pledge to energy efficiency, water conservation, responsible sourcing and waste reduction. Developed in 1994 by HAC, Green Key Global’s certification criteria are aligned with all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Major hospitality companies, including Accor, Best Western, Choice Hotels, Crescent Hotels & Resorts, Highgate, Hyatt, IHG Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International have collaborated with Green Key Global.
