Briefs: Four Seasons returns to Shanghai; Taj opens near Indian tiger reserve

FOUR SEASONS RETURNS TO SHANGHAI: Four Seasons is returning to Shanghai with a luxury hotel in the city center. Four Seasons, in collaboration with Fungseng Prosperity Holdings Ltd., have announced Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai. Scheduled to open in 2027, the hotel will have 44 floors with 160 luxury rooms and suites. Located in the Huangpu district of Puxi, the hotel is situated in the midst of the city’s shopping, entertainment and dining hub. The hotel’s architecture will be led by Ricardo Bofill and P&T Group, with Jean-Michel Gathy of DENNISTON leading interior design. The hotel will have five dining concepts, a gym, spa, resort-style outdoor heated pool, 690 square meters of wellness facilities and 670 square meters of meeting and event space. To offer an immersive local experience to guests, the hotel will include conserved and restored traditional lane houses, called Shikumen, at the base of the property.

TAJ HOTEL NEAR TIGER RESERVE: Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. (IHCL) has expanded its footprint in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan with the opening of the Taj Sawai, Ranthambore. The 60-room hotel is located on the outskirts of Ranthambore National Park, which is one of the largest tiger habitats in India. The hotel features a colonial design inspired by the region’s flora and fauna. The hotel includes a forest themed all-day diner, a grill and pool bar, fitness center, spa, an infinity pool and more than 2,500 square feet of banqueting space and open lawn for outdoor events. IHCL has been present in Rajasthan for more than five decades and this hotel marks the second Taj-branded hotel in Ranthambore. With this new hotel, IHCL now has 23 hotels, including eight under development, in Rajasthan. Currently, IHCL’s global portfolio includes 280 hotels, including 82 under development.

U.S. PERFORMANCE UPDATE: Hotel performance in the U.S. slipped from the previous week, as expected ahead of the holiday season, according to CoStar’s data through December 23.

  • RevPAR: $57.90 (-0.4%)

Among the top 25 markets, Boston posted the largest YOY lifts in occupancy (+21.5% to 46.2%) and RevPAR (+23.1% to $65.68). Anaheim saw the highest increase in ADR (+14.7% to $190.86). Denver (-11.7% to $47.25) and San Francisco (-11.7% to US$58.63) reported the steepest RevPAR declines.

CASINO, HOTEL OPENS IN CRIPPLE CREEK, COLO.: Full House Resorts, Inc. has announced the opening of its latest gaming destination, Chamonix Casino Hotel. Located in Cripple Creek, Colo., Chamonix is adjacent to and integrated with Bronco Billy’s Casino, which is also owned by Full House Resorts. Chamonix consists of a casino floor with a variety of slot machines and table games area, along with 300 rooms with balconies which offer views of Cripple Creek, Pikes Peak and the Sangre de Cristo mountains and a temporary restaurant and buffet in the meeting area. The hotel includes a rooftop pool and deck, winter garden, fitness center and a full-service salon. In the coming months, the hotel will open two restaurant, spa and a freestanding jewelry and luxury retail store.
