Briefs: Evermore, New Castle acquire Montana Marriott portfolio; Dusit to Europe

EVERMORE, NEW CASTLE ACQUIRE MONTANA MARRIOTTS: Evermore Partners, the Denver-based commercial real estate investment firm, and Ridgefield, Conn-based hotel owner and operator New Castle Hotels & Resorts have acquired the Montana Marriott portfolio. The portfolio comprises the 105-key AC Hotel by Marriott, 175-key Residence Inn by Marriott and The Mercantile, a collection of 20,000 square feet of experiential retail in downtown Missoula, Mont. Montana-based Stockman Bank partnered on the transaction. The hotels were developed on a full city block, a former regional center of commerce.

DUSIT’S EUROPEAN DEBUT: Thailand-based Dusit Hotels and Resorts, under Dusit International, has launched its first property in Europe with the opening of Dusit Suites Athens in Greece. The Dusit-branded luxury property comprises 36 rooms across four floors with views of the sea and distant mountains. The property includes a rooftop Mediterranean restaurant and bars with panoramic sea views, a pan-Asian restaurant, a heated pool with an adjoining sauna and steam room and a signature spa with six treatment rooms. Located in Glyfada, close to the beach and marina, the hotel’s suites offer a private balcony, a king-sized bedroom, a living room with a kitchenette and a bathroom. Dusit’s portfolio currently includes 48 hotels and over 300 luxury villas across 16 countries. The company has more than 60 hotels in its global pipeline.

BELLAGIO SPA TOWER BEGINS $110M TRANSFORMATION: Bellagio has announced the $110 million transformation of its Spa Tower. Following the recent remodel of the AAA Five Diamond resort, which saw the enhancement of 2,500 rooms in its main tower, the Spa Tower redesign will comprise refreshed 819 rooms and 104 suites. The redesign is expected to be completed in October, with the first set of rooms available for booking in July. Designed by New York City-headquartered interior design atelier Champalimaud Design, in partnership with MGM Resorts International Design Group, the Bellagio Spa Tower suites will be inspired by Italy’s Lake Como and the Alps. Designed by Chicago-based interior design company The Gettys Group, in partnership with MGM Resorts International Design Group, the guest rooms at the Spa Tower will mirror the Bellagio Tower’s newly redesigned rooms. The resort-wide room upgrades will culminate with the redesign of the Bellagio Tower’s 400 suites, which will also be led by Champalimaud Design.

DEADWOOD MOUNTAIN GRAND UNVEILS RENOVATED HOTEL PLANS: Deadwood Mountain Grand, a Holiday Inn Resort, has unveiled plans for the refreshed hotel. Renovations are expected to be completed by this summer. Located steps away from downtown Deadwood, S.D., the property was earlier known as the 1906 Homestake Mining Co. ore processing plant and, in 2011, became a large-scale event center and casino. The property is adjoined with the Holiday Inn Resort at Deadwood Mountain Grand. The renovations include improvements to the hotel’s 93 rooms and five suites and common spaces such as the lobby and restaurant. The design was led by Ste Marie Design. In partnership with Deadwood History Inc., the hotel’s refreshed interiors will be inspired by Deadwood’s history and the gold rush era and will feature historic photos sourced from Deadwood History Inc. Other amenities at the hotel include a heated indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, valet parking and concierge services.

FATTAL ACQUIRES IN ITALY: Israel-based Fattal Hotel Group has acquired the four-star Principe di Lazise Wellness Spa & Hotel on Lake Garda in Italy. Fattal acquired the luxury resort for €25 million ($27.18 million) from Bain Capital. The hotel, managed by Zeus International, features a restaurant, a 2,000-square-meter spa, a pool and meeting rooms. In 2017, Bain Capital acquired the hotel as part of its acquisition of the Italian subsidiary of Heta Asset Resolution, a “bad bank” founded by the now-defunct Hypo Alpe-Adria Bank. Under Bain, the hotel underwent extensive renovations, leading to an increase in the number of guest rooms. Fattal now has five hotels in Italy and 214 properties with this acquisition.
