Briefs: ESA opens 40th Premier Suites; Cordish breaks ground on a Live! in Louisiana

EXTENDED STAY AMERICA’S 40TH PREMIER SUITES: Extended Stay America has opened its 40th Extended Stay America Premier Suites in Sparks, Nev. This marks the first ESA Premier Suites property in the Reno-Sparks area. The new-build hotel was developed by Richmond, Va.-based Sandpiper Hospitality, which will also manage the property. The four-story Extended Stay America Premier Suites Reno — Sparks features 144 rooms, a gym, onsite laundry, outdoor grilling area and signature lobby with vending options. The suites offer fully-equipped kitchens with a stovetop, refrigerator, microwave, cookware and dishes, along with workspace, signature bedding and recliners. Extended Stay America is a mid-priced extended stay brand with more than 700 hotels across the U.S.

NEW CASINO, HOTEL IN LOUISIANA: The Cordish Companies has broken ground on a new Live! casino and hotel in Bossier City, La. The $270 million Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be the first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market. The property is anticipated to generate $35 million in gaming tax revenues for the City of Bossier and over $168 million in gaming tax revenues for the State of Louisiana in the first five years of its operation. Annually, the casino and hotel is expected to generate $34 million in salaries, tips and wages and create 750 new construction jobs. The property is being built at the site of the former Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel. Located along the Red River, the property is slated to open in 2025. The casino and hotel will feature over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, including more than 1,000 slots and electronic table games and more than 40 live action table games. The property will comprise an upscale 550-key hotel resort pool and fitness center, a 25,000 square foot event center and 30,000 square feet of dining entertainment venues.

U.S. PERFORMANCE IMPROVES: Hotel performance in the U.S. improved from last week, according to CoStar’s data through December 9.

  • RevPAR: $89.98 (+3.3%)

Among the top 25 markets, Boston posted the highest YOY occupancy increase (+14.1% to 72.7%). Miami saw the largest lifts in ADR (+48.8% to $314.55) and RevPAR (+67% to $262.16), driven by Miami Art Week and Art Basel. The steepest RevPAR declines were reported in New Orleans (-26.8% to $97.72) and Philadelphia (-20.3% to $84.24).

CHOICE COMPLETES RADISSON HOTELS AMERICAS INTEGRATION: Choice Hotels International, Inc. has completed the integration of the Radisson Hotels Americas business, migrating close to 600 hotels to Choice’s franchise system and digital platforms. This follows 16 months since Choice acquired the Radisson Hotels Americas brands in August 2022. This July, all of Radisson Americas brands were transitioned onto Choice’s central reservation system, enabling guests to book them from Choice’s website. Since the digital transition, total traffic, booked revenue and bookings on ChoiceHotels.com has increased, Choice said in a release. YOY, from August to November, total digital visits increased 4%, while total digital bookings rose by 5%. Total digital booked revenue was up 3% and app-only visits increased 19%. While app-only bookings jumped 18%, app-only booked revenue surged 13%. The integration of Radisson Rewards Americas increased the total number of Choice Priveleges rewards program members to more than 63 million.

MARRIOTT’S TRIBUTE PORTFOLIO ADDS IN FLORIDA: Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio, the collection of independent hotels, has added The Goodtime Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The 266-room boutique hotel marks the first collaborative lifestyle brand from David Grutman of Groot Hospitality an Pharell Williams. The hotel opened in April 2021 and is managed by Highgate. Morris Adjmi and Ken Fulk served as the hotel’s architect and designer, while Raymond Jungles was the landscape architect. The hotel is situated on a central, historic section of South Beach along the Washington Avenue. The hotel features dining venues, a gym and 45,000 square feet of ground floor retail.
