Briefs: Canopy by Hilton opens in the Seychelles; Marriott debuts in Papua New Guinea

CANOPY BY HILTON TO SEYCHELLES: Hilton has opened Canopy by Hilton Seychelles, marking the boutique lifestyle brand’s launch in the Indian Ocean. Located in the south of Mahé, this also marks Canopy by Hilton’s first global resort. The 120-room resort features three dining options, a spa, fitness center, three pools and kids and teens club. The 120-room property joins five other Hilton-branded hotels in the Seychelles, including the newly opened Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island. Currently, there are 40 Canopy by Hilton properties.

MARRIOTT DEBUTS IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA: Marriott Executive Apartments, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio has launched in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Region, with the opening of Marriott Executive Apartments Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. The waterside property is part of the Harbourside South mixed-use development. Marking Marriott’s venture into Papua New Guinea, the property offers Marriott Executive Apartment’s signature luxury apartments with hotel services for extended stays. Marriott Executive Apartments Port Moresby consists of 88 apartments, ranging from one- and two-bedroom suites to one- and two-bedroom penthouses, with separate sleeping, living, dining and working areas and fully equipped kitchens. The property also features a lounge, an outdoor lap pool, a leisure pool, gym, three spa treatment rooms and kid’s zone.

NEOM UNVEILS LUXURY LAGOON RESORT: NEOM, the region in northwest Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea, has announced Treyam, a premium lagoon resort. The resort will be located across the opening of the lagoons at the southern end of the Gulf of Aqaba and will have minimal land intervention. Its bridge-like structure will connect the northern and southern shores and house a 250-key luxury resort. The structure’s unique façade will create a sunset-like illusion from afar, with the upper and lower floors offering panoramic views of the tidal lagoon below and the skies above. Treyam will feature a 450-meter-long rooftop infinity pool rising 36 meters above the sea. The resort will offer a variety of water sports, tech-based health and wellness offerings, a fitness center, a luxury spa and multiple dining options. Treyam’s unveiling follows the recent announcements of other sustainable tourism initiatives across the Gulf of Aqaba, including Leyja, Epicon, Siranna, Utamo, Norlana, Aquellum, Zardun, Xaynor, Elanan and Gidori.

25HOURS ADDS IN COPENHAGEN: 25hours Hotels is set to open its second locaton in Copenhagen. Slated to open on July 27, 25hours Hotel Paper Island is located close to Nyhavn. The new-build hotel offers 128 rooms along with an Asian restaurant, a day bar, rooftop restaurant and function rooms for groups for up to 150 persons. The hotel was designed by local COBE architects, with Swedish interior designers from Stylt Trampoli in Gothenburg leading the interiors.

MERCURE’S FIRST IN ALBANIA: Accor has introduced its Mercure brand in Albania with the opening of Mercure Tirana in Tirana. The hotel features 64 rooms with interiors inspired by the local culture. Services and facilities include an onsite restaurant and terrace, a sky bar, rooftop pool and a conference center which can accommodate up to 120 guests. Located close to Albania’s major highways which connects the capital with the coastal city of Durrës, the hotel is near Tirana Airport and local attractions.
